Saturday Egypt’s culture minister retracted his claim that police had recovered a Van Gogh painting stolen from a Cairo museum. Egypt’s culture minister verbalizes that it was based on inaccurate information and that the search for the canvas continues.
Egypt’s culture minister Farouk Hosni announced that police had confiscated the Van Gogh painting that was stolen from an Italian couple at Cairo airport hours after it was lifted from the Mahmoud Khalil Museum in the Egyptian capital. But after that minister Farouk Hosni announced on national television news “the statement was based on information we received that was false and incorrect.” The authorities are still searching for the missing painting.
The title of Van Gogh painting goes by two titles the “Poppy Flowers” and the “Vase with Flowers.” The van Gogh piece valued at around $50 million. For the second time the painting of Dutch-born postimpressionist van Gogh that has been stolen from the Khalil museum. The first one was stolen on 1978 it was then recovered after 2 years.
