I'm big on people doing what they want to their cars. This scene shouldn't be like grade school, where you need to do certain mods to feel 'cool'. If you like the hellaflush/wheel poke, great. But I bet in a few years this trend will follow the eurolite tail lights/Fast & Furious trend, that everyone thought was cool back in the day. Don't lie, you probably thought that shit was cool at the time too. |

But I bet in a few years this trend will follow the eurolite tail lights/Fast & Furious trend, that everyone thought was cool back in the day. Don't lie, you probably thought that shit was cool at the time too. | There was a hellaflush thread about a year ago, everyone going on about how this was THE thing and it would be around forever... I said at the time it wouldn't last and they all told me I was nuts.
Ha.
Remember when wood panels were cool? How about big flames down the sides? How about slicks on the back and bicycle wheels on the front of everyone's daily driver? Or welded-chain steering wheels? Dingleballs? Kleenex boxes in the back window?
Stupidest thing is, none of these setups are actually "flush" in any aspect. Quote:
flush2 [fluhsh] Show IPA
adjective
1. even or level, as with a surface; forming the same plane: The bottom of the window is flush with the floor.
2. having direct contact; being right next to; immediately adjacent; contiguous: The table was flush against the wall.
adverb
9. on the same level; in a straight line; without a change of plane: to be made flush with the top of the table.
10. in direct contact; squarely: It was set flush against the edge.
verb (used with object)
11. to make flush or even.

Stupidest thing is, none of these setups are actually "flush" in any aspect. | I've stayed very quiet about this trend. The few times I've spoke up about it, suddenly I get looked at like I just shit my pants, or if it's online, I get roasted on how I don't know shit, or other stupid comments from 16yr old's that are still borrowing their mom's Corolla. I've given up trying to explain to some guys, how tire stretching can be dangerous, etc. The typical response I get is: "But it looks sick man!". Sigh.
We should just let the VW scene carry on with this trend, and we can all go back to proper set ups that are actually functional.

What's worse is when some of these guys get pulled over, and cry foul claiming the cops are looking to fill a quota, or they don't have anything better to do like solving "real crimes".
The cops are not going to stay up to date with the latest fads in car culture and whether they're safe or not. If it looks unsafe, they have a duty to act on it. If that means pulling you over in your heatscore ride, that's something you should learn to live with. You made the decision to have your car look that way, you deal with the consequences. Don't try to pass the fault onto somebody else. The cop didn't make your car look like that.
