That was the whole point! Just got back from the ridge. We had 7 sessions today but part way through the 5th session I hit a hole on turn 9a on the side of the curb. I think the tiny tiny bit of stretch caused my tire to go in the hole and the wheel lip took all the impact. Totally folded the lip of the inner barrel. I'm bummed my day ended like that, but its pretty minor and I had a great time regardless. Someones 964 caught fire. Now thats a bad day. It was saved, but some damage ensued.
I need to get ahold of a 40 hole 17x6.5 work barrel.
I'll post some photos up soon. Ridge is incredible, and very challenging. It rained very hard in the afternoon and made for a fun time testing out the track in the rain, albeit much slower.
Great job by Rick and the rest of the VCMC crew!

Only issue is the "noob" group or "C" group reads;
"The C group are for drivers that have recently been signed off solo by a recognized instructor from Turn2 or another company like HOD, or a car club like BMW or PCA."
i would recommend going to a pca event or bmw. an instructor will be beside you and teach you through out the day for free. it have less sessions compare to turn 2 event. but if its your first track day,4 session is enough imo.
You can e-mail or call Tom @ Turn 2. If you let him know well in advance, he can arrange for an instructor to pair up with you. That or follow boatcaptain's suggestions and do an instruction day with PCA or BMW. They often have events @ Pacific Raceway or The Ridge.

that or multiple of us rs'ers are known by tom and can instruct you for sure

Guess the LTW decision has been made for you. How did the tire handle it? Shitty deal either way.
Seeing kodamu's video was VERY impressive. That's some real skill, and having the ability to show what a FWD platform can do, nevermind being powered by the K20 engine.

Its no big deal. I feel for you much more needing to get your transmission rebuilt. Really bummed for the guy with the 964 with the electrical fire. Thats really scary stuff. They got to it while it was really mostly just melting plastic/wiring. Hopefully its no devastating damage.
