Old Gasoline in car expired?

I have been storing my car for about 1 year with the same full tank of gasoline in car.
I've heard that gasoline goes "bad" after about 6 months, is that true?

I let the car run for about 5-10 mins once every week, would that "bad" gasoline still in effect?

I will be storing the car for about another year, if gasoline does go "bad", i assume it would be time to get it changed?

please help.

Thanks!

As long as your car is kept in doors in is fine. I would be more worried you run your car only 5-10 minues every week.

First off, running the car for 5-10 mins a week does more harm than good. The engine doesn't get to full operating temp and there's no load put on it. It only runs under a rich condition which promotes carbon build-up in the engine and deteriorates the oil. If the batt get's low during that week, it puts extra load on the alternator to charge it back up.

I suggest you insure the car for a day, top up the tank, take it for a really long, hard drive, use up as much of the gas as possible, then go through the proper steps to store it, longterm. This would include:

-top up gas
-add fuel stabilizer
-oil change
-20+ minute drive to get eng. hot and stabilizer through the system
-car on jackstands with the suspension at ride height, parking brake off
-moisture absorber in interior
-cover exhaust and intake
-100ml oil in each cylinder
-remove batt
-car cover

ah crap! the only thing i did right was topped up gas and oil change right before storage.
what fuel stabilizer do you guys recommend?
saw a few at canadian tire for about $10.

I will be storing the car for another year. I see that the fuel stabilizer will be good for 12 months.

They put small amounts of wax in the fuel as a filler so if it does sit for a long time then it could build up in you lines. Not so much a problem with cars with fuel injection but for my carburetor dirt bike it is.
