SorrGwas Notes:
First glance at this monster, and you know its a Hummer.
Supposedly this hummer is smaller than its previous
version, and also has a H3 (the convertible version) soon
to be available to the market. First and foremost, this
LOOKS like a work vehicle, with enough bumper protection
to make it FTA approved. Touches of chrome on front grill,
and the side mirrors add a touch of class to this outright
rugged looking vehicle. Looks are always deceiving. Inside
is pure luxury. Soft leather seats, fully adjustable with
a fully adjustable headrest, the works! Being a sound nut
myself, the first and most important item in a car to me,
is the sound system. The H2 didn’t cheap out, with bose
speakers fairly well placed, and what sounded to be a
pretty good system (every system can always be upgraded),
but for the price you pay for an H2, u expect something
that looked a bit better than your everyday cd player off
of a chevy truck. Anyhow, time for the key… VRMMM, quiet
yet enough grunt to let u know this car is one bad ass
Mother…. Well u get the point. The fairly big shift handle
is so big, that even if u had bear claws, u can still get
from P to D. The gauges are fairly big, with big bold
letters, the white face adds a nice touch. OH, something
the previous hummer never had… a sunroof, a big one at
that…you getting the trend? Everything in this car comes
in one size only, BIG. Turning radius was surprisingly
good for a car this size. One pet peeve though, u can’t
see much thru the back window, its wide, but not very
tall, thus u got to really rely on your side mirror
skills. So many electronics, there are buttons for
everything, including the on star GPS system (so tempted
to call in and say I’m Batman, and I’m lost) Quick locking
differential button at fingers touch, and easy to use
controls built right on the steering wheel. As far as the
drive goes, it feels like a Cadillac. The ride is oh so
smooth. But, you tend to start feeling like you’re a bus
driver from the sheer width of the vehicle. You probably
have about 8 to 10in at most on each side of the lane
lines, this is one huge vehicle. In tight turns, there
isn’t as bad of a role as with most SUV’s, even smaller
ones. On highway speeds, it feels a bit sluggish when u
hit 100km/h, its not one of the best aerodynamically built
cars out there. After a short run, you’re gonna need some
gas. And this puppy likes them Premium Unleaded… Its
previous generation ran on diesel, so that could be a big
reason why this version was so much quieter. But, with
prices of today’s gas, 89.9 (meaning I needed the
expensive stuff at 101.9 / L) this would mean you better
budget well to be able to purchase this car. It eats gas
like no tomorrow, and it costs enough to feed most 3rd
world countries. All in all, this is a luxury toy, not so
practical to drive daily (good luck finding parking in
downtown especially when u need a good 6 ½ ft of
clearance), but is fun for the weekends, and wouldn’t look
too bad with some 22in chrome dubdubs and some pounding
earth shattering subs in the back…
On a side note, you get a lot of stares of “OHHH, AHHH,
Purty car”, and a few occasional thumbs up from guys, and
a fair bit of “OMG, look at the size of his… Car” from the
women. It is definitely a fun car for the weekend… but not
so fun for the wallet.
