I can see how they made 3 billion in profit, since I bought the car 3 years ago, my insurance went from 1396 a year for full coverage to over 2100 dollars. I have never had an accident and only one speeding ticket back in 99... I'm also getting 30% discount and I've been safe driving for 6 years, yet my rates went up over 700 dollars... It's a joke.

Edit: I forgot to put down that my car also has gotten 3 years older and is now NINE years old... Figure that one out, how a 9 year old car costs as much as a new luxury car to insure....

nice. so my $1,800 a year (at 40% discount no less) is going towards lining some asshole's pockets.

Saturn2nr 03-22-2004 05:06 PM

WTF?!?! I'm paying 2300 bucks a year.. give me a break. I thought that government operated corps arent supposed to be profitable... ?

For some reason they don't do 6 month policy's on Comp and Collision only, so I have to pay the full year and get my money back when I cancel it. For the year of Comp and Collision only ICBC wants $1,138 and $1,084.67 from HSBC. It's INSANE!!!!! Last year I paid 650 for the exact same thing through HSBC, and I get an extra 5% off to make it 30% off, and yet I pay over 400 dollars more? Insurance is the biggest rip off I've ever seen.
So many people complain about ICBC prices, yet nobody considers the alternative. You could always just not insure your car. Its not a necessity of life. Or you could go to Alberta where insuring a sports car for you(male between 16 and 25) would cost you about $4000/year with a clean driving record. We still have relatively cheap insurance in comparison to most people.

We have the cheapest rates in North America.
So quit bitching!

i was commin back home from a buddies house up near crawford, and there is this one sharp corner, rocks and gravel all over it, come around it, theres a truck in our lane.. shit so 2 wheels in the dirt... barely got by the truck and by this time the front end was sliding towards the cement barricade on the rocks and gravel.. no i was not speeding, surprisingly... i grab the e-brake a bit and we're in a nice controlled slide... i wish i grabbed the e-brake half a second sooner, just kissed the cement barrier with the corner of the rear bumper. it's fixable but will never look like an original bumper. So i came home sanded it with the 120, got rid of all the chipped paint and cut up urethane bumper, hit it with the 150, 220 and then 320 on the orbital palm sander, busted out the touch up paint and you can barely tell now. Going to pick up my new rear bumper tomorrow sand down the car this week and hopefully painter up saturday or one day after school so i may not make the meet, but i'll try to make it there on fresh paint

ToyotaWolf 03-22-2004 06:37 PM

fuck paint it after the meet man you have to be there. None of us are going to be checking out your ass.......of your car that is maybe some of the chick be lookign at you but im looking at the car besides worry about having the car perfect for the summer meet man come on.

netfreak 03-22-2004 06:42 PM

Actually no its not more, my parents insure there cars in the states and its not bad at all. The part that would kill you is if you get tickets down there it makes your insurance go up a lot which would really suck for guys like me.

i think the insurance for my car was like $1600 per year but its insured for victoria which was cheaper.

if the meet dos'nt conflict with booth time forsure i'll be there, i don;t really care what it looks like, as i said i'd be there with the car fully sanded all different colors and whatever, it dos'nt matter just booth time is valuable so we'll see... hopefully i can make it there on fresh paint.

fourtirefire 03-22-2004 07:10 PM
