tonight walking around downtown vancouver, a bum, who i've heard of before, came up and asked us if we wanted him to climb a lampost up to the wires for $2.. haha anyone else seen this guy? hilarious!! we gave him a 5

bluebomber85 08-22-2005 10:45 AM

Adam: the t case should be fine. Theyre very strong on those cars. The weakest part in the awd setup was the carrier bearing for the driveshaft to the rear. You've been driving it fairly hard have'nt you? check the loop or bearing assembly that the driveshaft goes through that is a common problem on those cars.

If it is still insured, stop by one night! i'd love to see what you've done with the old girl. Hope shes treating you well.

Thx for pointing out the carrier bearing but I doubt that is the problem since the noise goes away when the clutch is pressed. The driveshaft would still be rotating wheather the clutch is released or not. I put her up on jacks this morning and noticed that 3 or 4 front cv boots were destroyed. They were fine the day before so that is also a mystery. And you asked about the type of fuel... the $1.19/l stuff... premium

the TC is also spinning if the clutch is pushed in.

and I agree with honduhman on the Throwout Bearing. Didnt you just do your clutch? bet you didnt do the TB did ya.

jeffh 08-22-2005 03:49 PM

he didnt do it. but most kits come with a new throwout bearing. as the one that he bought

I once had the same problem on my old civic, and it was my input shaft bearing. But 90% of the time it's the TB.

girlcrazy_420 08-22-2005 09:59 PM

Thx Stew, its been awhile. Yea its a brand new TB, no way was I going to completely cheap out on this. Centerforce kits dont come with Throughout bearings anymore, so it was an extra $60 for the damn thing. I've had about 4-5 people tell me its the bearing so I'll have it looked at later in the week. I was worried that it was something a little more expensive... I still have another $100 bill for boots that I gotta put up with

edit: I got thinking some more about the "bearing" sound... Sure it sounds like a whinning type sound... but it also sounds gear-related. You know that sound that older viehicles tranny's make when they're about to blow? They kinda "hum"... a very destinct gear type sound but no grinding... I wish I could explain.

fourtirefire 08-22-2005 11:15 PM

sounds more like input shaft bearings...
was it a hassle getting the tranny mounted to the engine?
if so, it could have put extra stress on those bearings while trying to line up the input shaft with the clutch disc...

i know this from personal F%*$&%#G frustrations getting mine in and lined up.

HAHA! thats weird that same guy came up to my buddies and I on granville while we were eating our 99c pizza. Another bum, also while we were eating the same pizza, came up to us and said he would sketch my buddy for $1 so he gave him the buck and the guy sketched him and it was the most shitty drawing i have ever seen in my entire life. After he's like "you can keep the pencil" so basicaly my buddy paid $1 for a good laugh and grubby half used pencil with part of an eraser.

down_hill_dog 08-23-2005 11:32 AM

there is oil in the TC but is there oil in the tranny? long shot, but it sounds like a TB

Dmanm 08-23-2005 03:25 PM

On the note of Adams case of a howling noise coming from acceleration and decelleration this sounds like a very similar problem on my friends 2002 cavalier but it only is noticible under a certain RPM range like under 2000 or so. The problem was the TB on her car.. so since other people said it might be that im leanin that way as well.

Bouncing Bettys 08-24-2005 12:21 AM

was in the garage just now and spotted a spider. turned out to be a black widow - first time i've had a good look at one before. bitch was smart and got in behind some wiring before i could squish her. found something smaller and took a jab and nailed its big black and red ass but when i checked to confirm my kill, what looked like the legs and head scurried behind the fuse box. will its ass grow back or will it slowly die a cunts death?

AzN_ignite 08-24-2005 05:46 PM

today i got cut off twice, for fuck sakes i thought i could be seen from miles away in a yellow car but apparently not!!!! i was going straight on a straight road both times and someone attemped to turn out right in front of me, full out ABS both times. twice in one day fuck

gas in calgary is 98.5 or so, people are bitching, then I tell them what BC pays, it usually shuts them up

Saturn2nr 08-24-2005 07:59 PM

Had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled today... i still taste blood. Been aching all day. Gave my some Emtec 30 and prescription ibuprophin... awsome shit:D

2.5FearFactory 08-25-2005 05:48 AM

eviljeenyus 08-25-2005 08:14 AM

eviljeenyus 08-25-2005 03:40 PM

2.5FearFactory 08-25-2005 05:06 PM

saucywoman 08-25-2005 06:11 PM

When the snow comes, we should get some ppl together and go skiing/snowboarding. I would probably have to ski as I've only been boarding once and wouldn't be able to keep up to everyone, lol.
