Plus, the way that engine is built... I don't think it'll last long with any kind of boost going through it.
I still havent been to the dyno, but with the exact same setup guys in the states are running 185 right up to 210 whp!

hes got an oe header, ctr cams and ctr valve train.
he needs a thinner headgasket, buddy club 4 cams, mean valve train, a big 2.5 inch collecter header and a real tune on a dyno
there are 2.0 litre NA hondas that put down 275 to the wheels. 240 whp is common these days

Doesnt make sense to me either.

whatever the case is, unless Gregs gonna go drag racing or autocrossing on a serious level you don't need more power than that. 200km'h comes FAST

if your going for HP per dollar why dont we all just drive 5.0 mustangs with nawzz. Quote: Originally posted by ckrieg I dont know. yea, I dont know, I've yet to be in his car...so I can't really comment on it's speed. And I dont really know much about FI'ing an NA engine as I never really looked into it too much,...

? It already is? It came that way...lol
I know about getting MORE power out of an already FI'ed car (which is pretty easy)...but not FI'ing an NA car...
btw, are your lauren?

Cost effective? Theyre both about the same cost wise aswell. Sc's are just baller, as few have them. But then again, few also have well built NA Hondas.
Reason for SC on the Miata? Mazda has ALWAYS been behind the times with the Miata engines IMO. I mean, my 2001 VVT high compression 1.8 when stock made as much power as Jeff's B18B 1.8 non veettaak Honda Motor from 1994. It's really tough to make NA power out of the Miata engine, therefore forced induction is the only way!
SC's carry a bit of a mis-conception about them, and they are really not as special as everyone thinks. They build massive amounts of heat, they take on average 35-50 hp just to turn the blower at peak rpm. For absolute power, turbo is the only way to go. For a little jump in power with a fully driveable torque band, SC is the way to go. But on a quick NA DOHC VTEC Honda build you'll make just as much power, much more reliably.
*edit: not to mention on transverse mounted engines (fwd) it is VERY hard to intercool your SC setup, or run an effective water injection setup.

the thing that makes NA hondas different from most other forms of engine and power-adders is they are just so god damn fun.
250whp at 6-7000rpm in a DSM or some other similar turbo car fast, but 220whp in a 2400lb honda that rev's to 9000rpm is a HUGE RUSH.

ahh but launching with a 1.6 or lower 60' is a much bigger rush.
Part of the problem with the SC's on hondas is that the JRSC is not very efficient and only producing roughly 40% hp gain over stock.

So, probably moving to Edmonton in May. . .I pretty well hate the city right now, but we'll see if I warm up to it. I'm back for school in Sept., so if it totally blows, I only have to deal with it for 4 months

Ok, what motor does this thing have in it?
Colin driving a fully built NA car doesn't even compare to driving a turbo car, as JeffH said there is something about something hard to describe, yes it is probaly the the more expensive or all the paths to building a motor and it may result in lass power, but I don't know it is hard to describe I loved my first ride in a build NA Integra, something about ITB's and then Vtec just makes my pants wet!
no offence tommy but anybody can slap a turbo on a civic and be done but it takes a lot more dedication to built a high performing NA car
Look at Eclypz Integra, it layed down 276 at the wheel (it is my car's role model LOL)

1) greg can drive, and we've seen it when he does once in a blue moon show up to autocross, hes been bagging on hondas for quite a few years now
2) its got alot more get up and go than some heavy ass GSR. hell i could roll that fat pig of a car with my RS
3) tommy did jsut one day slap a turbo on. there fast civics with turbo's like als d15b civic, and then there is tommy. for comparisons sake, its a lot bigger of a build on tommy;s car than what garage five built for brendan
4) last ive seen brendans best was 248 whp, no where near 270, and there is a huge jump in work to make that much more power NA so i doubt he is hitting it now

Thats a pretty fucking stupid opinion coming from someone whos car likely isnt even 1/10th of what tommys is, and probably has about 1/20th of the knowledge.
