therin what do you do up north??

ColinK 09-23-2007 11:04 AM

I got this in an email today and thought I might share it....

In 1986, Mkele Mbembe was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University.

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing
with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Mbembe
approached it very carefully.

He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large
piece of wood deeply embedded in it.

As carefully and as gently as he could, Mbembe worked the wood out with his
hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its
face, stared at him for several tense moments.

Mbembe stood frozen, thinking of
nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly,
turned, and walked away.

Mbembe never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Mbembe was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his
teenaged son.

As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and
walked over to near where Mbembe and his son Tapu were standing.

The large bull elephant stared at Mbembe, lifted its front foot off the
ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then
trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Mbembe couldn't help wondering if this
was the same elephant.

Mbembe summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way
into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in
wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of
Mbembe' s legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn't the same elephant.

Day supervisor for a well testing company. not a bad job, but the lifestyle sucks for someone like me.

I just test fit all my ski gear and gave it all a run down. gotta get a good edge/wax job before the season starts, and maybe some new bindings. What seemed like a good plan when I bought them turned out not so good, I need something more lightweight. Unfortunately a dedicated park set isn't in the budget for this year.

Anyone else as stoked as I am? haha

as much as I hate the cold, I can't wait for the snow to get here. I'm going to try and get to the hill as much as possible this year. I only went 3 or 4 times last year before I got injured :(

Well i was on another forum, ls1 rx7 site, and you wouldnt believe what i was saying, i was defending hondas, i know, so one guy went on about saying he had lined up a race with a local kid with a b18c turbo in an integra, he said no thanks and the kid insisted so the guy said ok and they are set to race next sat. a couple guys were saying whats the point etc.. common things you would hear from me, lol. so I posted that dont take it too lightly, one guy posted that he previously had a b16 turbo civic and it wasnt anywhere near as fast as his v8 rx7, so to shut them up i posted tommi's vid and then the excuses came out, that turbo is the size of a zipcode, he asked if that was common i said tommi is special, then hatred of honda came back, i laughed at them. its funny how honda owners know so lil about v8's and v8 owners no so lil about the potential of hondas.

Therin 09-23-2007 09:50 PM

thats the wonderful thing of ignorance i guess.

ColinK 09-24-2007 08:35 AM
