Time to hook up the block heater. Car nearly didn't start haha, plus my power steering is pretty much frozen.

underscore 01-28-2008 08:50 PM

my door froze shut at Save-On the other night :(

Had to crawl in through the hatch.

I heard that many drilling rigs are looking for employees. Ill ask around but I am sure Nabors and Precision are looking same with Trinidad.

Hahaha nice. My hood latch seems to be freezing up now and I have to really yank the thing to open it.

underscore 01-28-2008 10:18 PM

the worst part was it wouldn't budge at all, even after driving around with the heater on full blast for a half hour, I was worried I'd broken the release cables or something. Cars just too well insulated I guess.

RRxtar 01-28-2008 11:02 PM

my bimmer had pneumatic door locks. they would always freeze in the winter. and turning the key doesnt mechanically unlock the door either, it electronically unlocks them pneumatically. so i hated it.

Yeah, my HID's don't like to fire up in anything colder than -5 or so unless the engine bay is warm. The ballasts are very weak and to get warranty I have to pay shipping to and from HID Outlet, yet they are offering up free shipping to everyone who buys a new kit.
Just another problem i'll have to get around to fixing one day.

girlcrazy_420 01-29-2008 01:16 PM

My door lock actuator is seized when its anything colder than about -0 its a pain in the ass to work around. My door stays shut and the only way in is thru the window, or warm up the car for 15mins than I can finally unlock the door. Once in a blue moon it'll work.

time fer an HID version of a block heater :D

Big Daddy 01-29-2008 06:26 PM

Might be able to use battery blankets on the ballast?

RedCeli 01-29-2008 07:09 PM

I don't have any problems in the winter, but in the summer, my urethane bumpers warp when its hot and the sun hits them. Then I can't get the driver door open. But as soon as I park in the shade, they're fine.

girlcrazy_420 01-29-2008 08:01 PM

Who on here ownes a lowrider blue station wagon? Ford?

anyways the Stang is for sale if anyone is interested. Look on Vancouvermustangs for info. Other than that, I'd like to trade it for some-sort of lifted truck/suv with a posi or locked rear diff.

3 weeks ago you were telling us that you were taking out a loan to buy a good quality vehicle that you were going to keep for a while. then you said you were going to keep this one in good shape and not even insure it untill the spring.

it's pretty friggen cold out in Edmonton. I guess it got to -54 on Mon with the wind chill. Last night it seemed colder than the other nights and it only was -45 with the wind chill
I never should have made the trip out here. The cold is awful, got driven into a ditch by a semi about 1 hour outside edmonton and now my battery's dead. Oh well, it's been fun.

underscore 01-30-2008 08:25 AM

I believe you and I have different definitions of "fun"

saucywoman 01-30-2008 08:34 AM

well other than the cold, driving into a ditch and my car not being driveable it's been fun. I've gotten to hang out with Tasha and the baby since I prob won't see them for a few months, and I went shopping at west ed which is always fun :). I also got to see a friend I haven't really seen for a couple of years
