that sucks. I agree with jonathan. I've looked at people eyeball to eyeball and they still pull out in front of you and claim they didn't see you. Sucks that she had to lose her life over something so stupid.

This is a sign that you're reacting automatically to traffic conditions, and are not relying on concious decisions. Normally this is a good thing, If you don't have to think about your move before you make it, then you will have a faster reaction time,

Problem with motorcycles, is that they aren't shaped like a car or a pedestrian. People do not notice motorcycles like they notice cars. The brain doesn't see the motorcycle as some thing to trigger a reaction to.

Not saying the driver wasn't to blame... but I am a rider with over 26,000kms of experience on the road and 12 years total experience riding and I can tell you right off the bat that if you don't ride in traffic as if EVERY car on the block is aiming for you, you will not make it.

The most common car related motorcycle crash is the car making a left infront of you.

Unfortunatly most riders ride just like they would drive a car... They still feel that since they have the right of way they're all good. Well that only works when you have 3000 poounds of metal around you. In panic situations, motorcycles riders will almost ALWAYS freeze up like a deer in headlights. What could have been a simple swerve then brake procedure often turns into a nasty t-bone and a fatality.

To ride safe in traffic requires you to almost have a suicidal mindset, all the things would would do to save yourself in a car (survival reactions) are the exact oposite of what you should be doing on a bike... Whoever thought that the worst thing you can do when entering a corner too fast is to get on the brakes when in reality you should be on the gas !

The best life saving tip I could ever give 1 rider to another ? Keep 2 fingers on your front brake lever at all times. It will cut your panic stopping distance in 1/2.

And sorry about the loss. Been there a few times.
Good advice. You should put a sticky up in the sportsbike forum with safety tips and such.

I drove right by on Monday night. Took out my phone and got a picture. Kinda blurry but...my car is moving and it's dark...and it's a phone.

I'd say that the entire front end of the bike is just smashed...lots of pieces of glass and various bike parts scattered all over the scene. It was pretty high impact.

R.I.P.

I didn't hear the story until the day after...that totally sucks that she was so close to home. It doesn't quite make sense to think that she was travelling very fast if her family was right there.

Keith Code's "Twist of the wrist 2" book is about the best thing out there to improve riding skill on and off the trrack...

Reading that book turned me into 2x the rider that I was before.

damn, I live really close to that area. RIP.

On a side not, that intersection ( 2 and blundell) was the most dangerous intersection in the lower mainland for a number of years( in terms of accidents) before improvments were made.

Last night me and Deviant and a couple friends were the the Chevron in Walnut Grove and a minivan turned left out of the parking lot and a biker hit the back part of the van. The bike went to the side bounced off the curb and back into the middle of the road and the rider went under the car. He came so close to being driven over but the minivan stopped.
Dont know what condition hes in now tho. He didnt seem badly hurt visibly but you never know.

this is why sometimes i hate god. really really bad things happen to really really good people. she was the nicest person you'll know. she was a good worker, a good friend, good attitude etc.. every quality about her was good.

and im not just saying this cuz she passed away. im saying this cuz i knew her and this is who she really is. it just sucks to see a negligent driver take her life away from us. and wtf did she do wrong? nothing..

Just to clear a few things up, Janelle's family was NOT following behind her, they did not see the incident happen. She passed away in the hospital due to internal injuries. She was just about a couple blocks away from home, so for all of you guys that that ride, ur never safe until ur off ur bike. Be careful out there.

R.I.P. Janelle, your smile will aways be missed.

Ok guys, im sorry I must post this, but this is infomation.
I do not want to start getting people mad at me so please, dont.

My friend who was riding his bike along No2 road said that he saw the whole accident. And he said that she was riding pretty damn fast. At least over 100/kmh. He was riding at around 70 and she just came up behind and zoomed past him.
