Bike Accident Fatility on #2 Rd.

Leaving home early yesterday morning, I saw an accident scene on #2 Rd and Blundel. It involved a red Camaro and a newer model sports bike. Today coming home I saw a makeshift memorial but didn't stop to examine it. Does anyone know exactly what happened?

I realize accidents happen everday but this one was quite close to my house and I think a young girl passed away.

RIP.

Truely. I also saw a white Integra had hit a pole a couple of days ago in Poco and the passenger died. Driver was drinking.

Be careful people.

Anyone know if the death on Dyke road between No.3 and Gilbert is car related?

Also anyone know what happened on No.4 road? There are those orange police markings and some sand or wood shavings wahtever covering up some spill...

this is the shit that happens when people think they know it all, and think that "ohh well, i'm a great driver, and nothing can go wrong because i know exactly what's happening".....

bikes or people or cars can come from nowhere people

From the Sporstbike section of this forum... should have checked there first.

But then I also heard

That the Camaro was turning INTO blundell center from that enter/exit but still, a double solid yellow line means no turning.

RIP Janelle.

There is no way she was going that fast... her family was in a van right behind her so she wouldn't boot it like that... The Camaro driver should have been able to see her - the roads are so clear in that area.. u can see anything a mile away

RIP JANELLE MACDONALD

she was my old coworker from last year and i used to hang out with her after work @ milestone's. she was really down to earth with everyone at work and was also dating one of my buddies before she left for australia. we really enjoyed her company during the times she worked with us.

apparently she just got back from australia just a few weeks ago to visit some family. she was headed back to australia shortly after on monday to continue her travelling.

i saw her last sunday night at work n talked for a bit which was the last time i saw/talked to her. as soon as i heard of the news earlier yesterday, i couldnt believe that she passed away all of a sudden. i thought it was all a dream until i went to the scene and saw her flowers and pictures up there on the post. it will take a while to sink in.

its so sad to see this beautiful person leave us all of a sudden, without any warning. eventhough i dont know her personally, ive shared many memorable moments with her while at work and while hanging out. everyone loved her as she loved everyone in return. she was and will be our one and only ruff ryder.

take it easy people. nobody is invincible.

People don't see motorcycles.

Experienced drivers will tell you that they usually do not remember the last 3 intersections that they go through... This is a sign that you're reacting automatically to traffic conditions, and are not relying on concious decisions. Normally this is a good thing, If you don't have to think about your move before you make it, then you will have a faster reaction time,

Problem with motorcycles, is that they aren't shaped like a car or a pedestrian. People do not notice motorcycles like they notice cars. The brain doesn't see the motorcycle as some thing to trigger a reaction to.

Not saying the driver wasn't to blame... but I am a rider with over 26,000kms of experience on the road and 12 years total experience riding and I can tell you right off the bat that if you don't ride in traffic as if EVERY car on the block is aiming for you, you will not make it.

The most common car related motorcycle crash is the car making a left infront of you.

Unfortunatly most riders ride just like they would drive a car... They still feel that since they have the right of way they're all good. Well that only works when you have 3000 poounds of metal around you. In panic situations, motorcycles riders will almost ALWAYS freeze up like a deer in headlights. What could have been a simple swerve then brake procedure often turns into a nasty t-bone and a fatality.

To ride safe in traffic requires you to almost have a suicidal mindset, all the things would would do to save yourself in a car (survival reactions) are the exact oposite of what you should be doing on a bike... Whoever thought that the worst thing you can do when entering a corner too fast is to get on the brakes when in reality you should be on the gas !

The best life saving tip I could ever give 1 rider to another ? Keep 2 fingers on your front brake lever at all times. It will cut your panic stopping distance in 1/2.

And sorry about the loss. Been there a few times.
