I'd say the plot would have flowed better if he got beaten by Naruto and Sasuke to a pulp before he willing fuses with the mother figure thing. And Kishimoto would have been able to milk a few more episodes out of that fight as well...
I'm sure this has been mentioned numerous times already, but Naruto has seriously turned into the current day Drag-on Ball. The elevated chikara, the "unique" killer moves, the massive fights in barren land, etc.
I used to like both Dragon Ball and Naruto because they precisely weren't like that.

I'm not sure if you should be spoilering that, since it's manga plot.
While there are parallels to DB, I wouldn't necessarily call that a bad thing. There's a reason it's still popular today. Jokes about ki-charging and "beat up the good guy until he unlocks a new power" are prevalent, but it's the storylines and characters that keep DB popular even today. I don't see it as a detriment to the Naruto plots since the story is still captivating.
Personally, I think this "war" has dragged on way too long. It's nice to see it progress a bit faster than we're used to.
i find that theres so many plot twists and things going on in the manga right now that im often left confused as to what is happening. i usually have to read the past chapters to make sense of everything
Feels like they are dragging the ending too long for the manga. Hope another villain doesn't pop up after the current fight. Lol
Spoiler!
We will soon find out that Sasuke consists of an evil/good portion a la Majin Buu. Naruto will then proceed inside Sasuke, get good Sasuke out, defeat evil Sasuke with a new cosmic moon power (with an image of Sasuke helping/holding him from behind), kind of like this:
Then good Sasuke and Naruto live happy ever after as lovers/co-Hokages.
Manga author Inio Asano, whose solanin, What a Wonderful World! and Nijigahara Holograph have made it to North America, was famously called "a voice of his generation" by Japan's major newspaper the Yomiuri Shimbun. So, with Naruto ending its Shonen Jump run after 15 years, Asano has illustrated his impression of a generation who has grown up reading the orange ninja.

Finally ended eh? About damned time! Maybe ill catch up now to see how it ends... should have ended years ago
its sad to see the manga end, but i agree that it should have ended a lot sooner. For me, the plot started to go downhill after the Invasion of Pain arc.
damnnn haven't watched Naruto since i was 13. nostalgia feels
no way i'm catching up on 6 years of Naruto from what i've gathered, must've been absurdly superfluous
gotta see that ending tho

Where did you end off with the anime?
Personally, the early "great war" stuff at the end was awesome. Just drawn out, like a lot of things in the series. Doesn't mean that it was bad.
