hmmm i forget but thats what happen
might have to put 2 together ie.
3rd hokage,4th died, some reason the 3rd is now hokage again?
spoiler/....
and you wont see her as the 5th hokage for a while
but if you watch at the end of the new opening when you see orichamaru jairaya and a girl..thats tsuande she will be the 5th

the way it works is that the next hokage of the leaf village is chosen by the current hokage and the two other members of the restricted council...seems to work this way with other villages too ie with sand since they also have 2 other members by the kazekage
in the case of the leaf...the hokage is generally the strongest person or best leader in the village...after the fourth died...there really wasnt anyone stronger or more suited for the job than the third in the leaf and thats why he became the hokage again

but they want to make money with the manga then put out the cartoon episode
1 episode each week .. this show has been in production for over a year straight with like no breaks

i wasnt talking about breaks
i was just saying that the anime can catch up to the manga
it really annoyed alot of ppl when hunter x hunter did it
could happen with naruto at the way things are going
anyways i dont think they will have a break soon since they just added new endings and new opening
kinda weird to see tsanade in the opening since we wont be seeing her for another year maybe?

I hear that there is a Naruto movie in production as well?
Remember that anime is actually produced to push the manga. Comics/manga is huge in japan, everyone in all ages read comics so the industry is much larger and more different than it is in North America.
Usually, when an anime series ends, it pretty much forces the viewer to go and pick up the manga to read what's gonna happend next.

the anime will never catch up to the manga.... the manga is at volume 23 now..... the anime is showing things that happened in volume 12... by the time the anime hits ep 100, the manga will be at like volume 40 or something @_@
