Yep as Jeff says. B series Honda trannies are actually quite strong. They only seem to shatter gears on the hard upshifts or shred them apart under power when the car is making upwards of high 400+ whp. Last year was already on the verge I'm sure, this year was just over the top. I'll have to save money up and get a tranny built up over winter I'm thinkin.

I tink my cars actually only been down 3 times in which it was longer then 2 weeks. First time it was doown for the witner anyways to put new motor in, second time it was down due to broken intermediate shaft in which I took a break from the car for 2 months, then this time, which will prolly be about 2 weeks. I do still drive the car to work and back and around almsot everyday which is 100km's a day. Gotta pay to play, unfortunantly I'm into an expensive hobby hehe.

My cars only down fall is the mechanics that work on it and the previous owners, everything has been pretty much replaced with stronger than oem parts, and i don't really mind my car sitting cuz its my pride and joy, but when it does run, boy does it make me smile

the thing is with the 'garage ornaments' is that they're something you put your heart and soul into.. you bust your ass to build it and you'll know at the end of it it was all worth it with that first start up... i mean you could always cop out and buy a bike for speed, but i think there's much more respect and admiration when someone has actually taken the time and money to build something crazy.
but maybe that's just me...

it all comes down to "built, not bought"
everytime i run up the boost or grip through a corner, im reminded of every hour ive spent not only working on the car but researching every piece before i can take the time to save the money to buy the part. its what im passionate about like many others. i wish i had a workshop and a second car so i could make my car a garage/track queen

i can say the same built not bought thing about bikes too, or my long list of other cars. the thing with bikes is you start so much farther ahead, but there is still a TON of room for improvement and personalization so this doesnt need to be a bikes vs cars thing
im simply wondering why someone in their very early 20s would want to have 30, 40, 50 grand locked up in a car thats never running

because they can? i guess? it's fun to be young and stupid... you can only be both once
i'm somewhat the same way with the z i guess... got a ton of money invested into it (well not really invested, more of wasted) just to make it go fast... i couldn't tell you why other than it's fun to do, and fun to say i did it all myself...

just like renting, why would you want to tie up all that money paying someone else mortgage?

As jeff said, after all the hard earned dollars spent on it, long days and nights, and the sacrifices, NOTHING, and I mean. NOTHING will put a smile on my face the same way as driving my car does that I built. Although I've spent alot of moeny on my car, some people seem to think I spent alot more than what I really did on it. The car in the end is an economy car from the factory afterall, but the aftermarket support is just huge as is with any Hondas, so pricing is alot more affordable because of this. I LOVE bimmers, but to go and buy a nice shape one, then to want to make it my own with good quality parts costs an arm and a leg for what I'd want to do. Unfortunantly, 2 wheels has never sparked any interest in my life even after having atleast 6-7 friends that have bought bikes.
PS: If I ever do sell it, I know I won't get anything for it, and I'm fine with that because I know that my money spent is not an investment.

just like renting, why would you want to tie up all that money paying someone else mortgage? | Don't worry I'm fully aware that cars are a negative investment, I know from past experiences.
The only reason I'm bringing it up is that after Geby's finally got his car to the finished stages and where he wants it to be, he's thinking of selling it soon after. Why not drive it for a year and enjoy all of the $ and effort he has into it before flipping it? Especially after not being able to enjoy it for the majority of the last year while it was being built.
