hmm i dont know if theres a car in that picture, but the exposure of the ass is nice.

yes. you would have to expose one for the foreground, and one for the background, and then combine the two on the computer. At least 3 exposures generally works best.

As for Hyperrev, those action shots you take of the bikes and the quad...do you guys usually use AF or just manually focus it? It seems you guys always get the focus SPOT on.

nah i never manual focus for action stuff, i just set the camera to AI Servo and select the AF points the subject is likely to be closest to and the camera/lens does the rest.

some shots from the ice rally on Barns Lake today...Unfortunatly it was pretty foggy and snowing so the pictures arn't that good :( And I think I'm finally gonna get into an slr this month! :)
