next time try not to have the light in the shot it creates too much flare and glare. degrades your image overall.

The second shot looks a bit blurry.

Biggest tip, make sure your car is clean before shooting it! :D

Your subbie is looking good though. So jealous...

Kev

yes i was using tripod, but it was windy.

I'm sure he was using a tripod. The first image is a 30 second exposure, and the second is a 13 second exposure. I think the focus was just off.

The whitebalance seems to be off in the first image. Also, try to shoot with the light (like pic 2) rather than against it like you did in pic 1

still in the learning process. so it's trial and error. thanks for the tip tho

Thanks Allan! It was from my Sony Ericsson W580i and its 2MP camera. Pictures are alright when there's sufficient light, but noisy at night. I took that picture behind a glass window as well. I honestly wanted to take a picture quickly just because it was a nice car and wanted to get it before it took off. Somewhat sad it's better than some of my planned shots.

Hey Tom, would you mind telling me where this corner is? I am planning on taking some shots of a white Z this weekend, and could use this type of vivid alley scene.

Hey guys, I am planning on shooting day / night time shots of a white 350Z. Any suggestions in terms of places to shoot?

caie-u 11-06-2008 11:34 PM

Love the fireball.

Meowjin 11-10-2008 03:28 PM

pics of said rig plox

ColinK 11-10-2008 04:28 PM

Unforuntaely, I dont have any pics of the camera on the rig, just the raw file out of the camera. I can post that up if anyone wants to see it? I basically two suction cups with super clams attaching to a whiskey pole off my parents sailboat and then a Magic Arm at the other end which hooks up to the camera

Levitron 11-10-2008 05:01 PM

I'd love to see the rig too.
I definitely love that first one too of the FD!

Mmm...Defi gauges....

I would say clean the lens or sensor depending on where that black dot in the upper left quadrant came from. The picture looks over processed to me. I like the car although the front of it is quite dirty. The front wheels would look nicer is they were straightened as right now the tires are blocking the view of the rims. There is no background to speak of so it would be cool to find a nice area to take pics of that will compliment the car. I like the composition of the image and it looks like the rule of thirds was used. I don't think the picture sucks but if you clean the camera and car and go to a nice location I think you will achieve much nicer results.

Tim Budong 11-10-2008 11:33 PM

that blackdot prob was from the environment no lens hood
we were right in the clouds
i rushed this one as we were getting kicked out

How about that graffiti place?

d3vI4nt 11-12-2008 11:30 PM

^ You could give graffiti place a try. I would like to see how your pics turn out for sure!

frostdiamond 11-13-2008 06:01 AM

For the THIRD time i am going to ask, can somebody please advise where that graffiti place is.

I almost feel like nobody here's willing to help. Do you not welcome new comers to the photography domain?

d3vI4nt 11-13-2008 06:18 AM

^ You didn't ask where it was. You only asked if it was a good place to shoot. The area that I know of is just south of Gas town. Between Cambie and Abbott just North of Cordova. I'm not 100% sure though so you'll need to check out the back alleys near that area.

Photo ops are everywhere you look, it's all about execution. If you can find a location no one else has shot then props to you. All you need is a nice plain wall and you have yourself a background.
