^ nice. i woulda put it on the rocks though, so the wheel doesnt get cut off. With silhouettes the outline depicts the shape of the subject, with it cut off like that, although the viewer knows whats going on, it's still asthetically more pleasing to not cut the lines and give everything it's own space in an image. Those rocks are 'intruding' on the space of the bike so it creates a clutter in that area.

Good point, and I thought of that as well, but I couldn't find a way to stand it up straight without it falling.

great colors, except for... HORIZON. General rule is everytime u see the horizon in the image, it HAS to be straight. If you want to tilt, then cut the horizon out, either go higher or frame something in the background where you dont see the horizon.

jolaika 07-27-2009 02:06 PM

somethin like this?

rageguy 08-01-2009 08:22 PM

why does the horizon need to be leveled? J's previous picture of the s2k with the slanted horizon looked pretty pleasing.

Welcome to my world! :) I sold my car and I'm biking to work now. My wife has a car so that's enough for the 2 of us. I'm actually debt free because of that move.

Nice shots! What did you use to light it?

ColinK 08-02-2009 08:28 PM

I'm going to guess light painted the car with the led flashlight and then did some swirls?

Thanks. Yeah, it's just the free LED keychain I got from Rogers + the Canon SX200 IS I picked up yesterday + me running around the car like an idiot (15 sec. max. exposure). :p I want to do this properly with my SLR and a better backdrop after finals.

This is where I got the idea (though I've seen people do this many times before):

Gotta love TG cinematography.

ya. straight horizon. Ok now im just goin to be picky, there's waaay too much distortion. lol. It'll seem cool at first but when u shoot more, u'll find it to be overused and cheesy almost.

becaue a tilted horizon makes the viewer feel like the earth is slanted and he's falling over.
