You guys all inspired me to pick up my camera again(rebel xti - stock 18-55), which I haven't used in over a year.

Some crappy pic. Feel free to give some insight.

Try utilizing rule of thirds a bit more to draw more attention to your car. Good looking car though but that cone + the yellow horse kind of draw attention away from the car, they would work better as background elements but because you kind of have your car right beside them and you're standing so far away it makes it insignificant

i gotta say that's good fitment though a little camber + lower would be cool!

i'd look for something that makes your car stand out from the background. a more neutral, desolate, decrepit background might work. the contrast of your shiny red car against say a black, neutral, grey, white background would definitely draw attention to the subject.

I agree, the background either has to complement the picture, otherwise, it'll just distract. The power poles, don't add to anything, if you were using it as a pattern, that's great, otherwise, it'd be better if you took the car elsewhere.

Also, your pictures look a little soft. I'm not sure if you used a tripod. If not - the shutter speed is too slow to do handheld (even if you have IS turned on), IMO. It's good to shoot around F8/F11, but if it's too dark, you risk having a little blur from shaking your camera.

The nice and clean red would look great if you put it next to some of the beautiful fall foliage we have right now!!

Thanks for the tips guys, exactly what I need. To be honest, I didnt have much time to go to a place I really wanted, it was raining that day and I had to be somewhere shortly after that. So I just took them with flying colors... but great advice and hopefully I'll get to use the camera again before the winter is full swing.

I had the tripod out but it was so wet and ugly out that I just took 15 minutes running around and then I left.

I finally got a chance to mess around with my rig today. First time rig shot ever. I need a better ND filter. Decent... not what I'm looking for but its a good start I'd say. Had to stop as it started to rain.
What do you guys think? Any tips?

Here is my second attempt with my rig on my Prelude. Its alot of work in photoshop and I'm not 100% satisfied but I'm still very proud of this photo!

What do you guys think? Any tips from fellow automotive rig owners? Its more photoshop help/tips that I really require. C&C Welcome!

RCubed, this ones for you. Thank you btw

Nice shot! In my opinion, I would shoot either wider, or a little further away from the car to give it a little space. The shot seems a little tight to me.

Something that I've done in the past to help with the editing is once the shoot is done, I would sit on the ground and hold the camera in place, then have someone else remove the rig while I was still holding the camera in the same position, then I would take a couple extra frames. It's not perfect since you can't hold the camera exactly where it was, but it sure helps with the editing

Thank you very much. I know its way too close. I originally wanted a different angle but I was too eager (as always) and didn't want to go home empty handed. So I took some shots from two angles. I'm going to extend my boom from 10 to 15 feet as its cheaper to do that then purchase a wider lens
I only have a 18-200mm VR f3.5 which is sweet but would love to get something along the lines of Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X but I have many items on my wish list that I don't know which to get first. As of right now I'm leaning towards a zoom lens as I would love to shoot some eagle photos in Squamish in a few weeks. If someone buys my crappy old spare set of wheels/tires and my OEM Honda Prelude leather seats I could purchase another lens but for now I gotta work with what I got.

As of editing. I was thinking the same thing! Position the camera as close as you can to where it would be mounted on the rig and just layer mask but its harder then I thought doing it all by myself (Yes, I'm a loner) lol... even with a tripod its a bit tricky. The next rig shot of mine will be with a longer boom thats 100% sure and somewhat of a front end angle. I'm excited!!!

Thanks again for all the help and comments! I really do appreciate it!

European, your getting to be quite the well rounded photographer! Dabbing yourself into a little bit of everything! I can see why your wish-list is so big! Keep up the great work, i'm really enjoying your rig-shots! I wish i had a rig of my own. Maybe when i actually have a car i can get a rig of my own! Keep up the good work!

Here is something sexy i stumbled upon in Melbourne, so sweet!
