Nice beamer. Anyone wanna take me out for some shots?

Mananetwork 11-17-2006 01:05 AM

Mike great shots, the last 2 are my favorite. Last one being the best though. Fantastic composition and idea

clone out that tree branch on the left in the 3rd pic too mike

mike, i always love ur shots, but i gotta tell u, shooting wide angle motion shots distorts the car to the point that it can be mistaken for a SUV. longer focal length will make a world of difference.

mmm I see your point now that I look at the car again, haha. Guess I'll try a longer length next time. IS and riding in a car w/ a soft suspension would help, haha.

omg i never thought of IS on rolling shots! lol it's only when u pan you shouldn't use it... i concluded that for all shots dealing with moving cars... i should definitely try it with my IS lens then right?! lol

Milhouse 11-19-2006 08:32 AM

Do you have the version of IS that allows you to control whether you want IS on each of the axis seperately?

They're nice cars :). On that note, I parked at abeerdeen yesterday and some biatch wacked their door against mine, leaving several large scratches and a quarter size chunk of paint off my driver mirror. Didn't even leave a note. I hate chinese drivers. No freaking respect or courtesy. These scratches are past the paint, and the mirror scratch is down past the primer. So pissed off.

/end rant.

nope, only those work for the rolling shots?

lowside67 11-20-2006 07:31 AM

i know those work best, im sure there's gotta be another way to get the IS to work for rolling shots.

Tom, I think that would be a really cool picture without the car in it. However, I think as it is now, it's kind of unclear of what the photo is. As an architectural photo, the car is distracting and takes away from the lines and lighting. As a car photo, the car is lost in the background because it's so small.

Mananetwork 11-28-2006 09:42 AM

Yes, the purpose of that shoot was to see how it would turn out. Kyle saw the structure and we decided to take some snap shots. The arc looks nice on it's own, the car is so small it gets lost for sure.
For the future, would another car work better, maybe another position, closer, fill flash one side?

I just wanted to see what peoples feedback is on this one.

dub.dub 11-28-2006 02:21 PM

i didn't notice the car until the very end

MikesJo 11-28-2006 02:27 PM

I like it cause it depicts and emptiness :). A car stranded in the freezing weather. Or a worker gone to a closed down employer for the day.

nice shot!
