Cooked Christmas Dinner for the first time myself this year (still had a little help) and OMG makes me really appreciate how much my mom did every xmas prior

i had the best christmas in many many years. we decided this year to not buy gifts other than stocking stuffers, so we still had the "gift opening element" on the morning of the 25th.

i bought a round of golf for son-in-law on the 24th, who is visiting from Calgary. he couldn't believe we do this here in Vancouver and he thought it was the best thing ever. watching him play was priceless, he was like a kid in a candy store.

after golf we headed over to Stanley Park ,with our thermoses filled with wine, did the train ride thing with our guests.(quick video straight from my Samsung Tab 8",

)

we taxied to and from the seabus station, so it was painless getting there and back. the wine and the pain free getting back and forth was awesome.

christmas day was chopping wood, movies, napping, then a huge roast beef dinner. (we decided to give turkey a break).

bottom line here is there was no stress/bullshit heading into the holidays with the no gift giving rule, and everything else was so much more enjoyable. and, probably no more turkeys for us on Christmas, Thanksgiving is enough for bird.
