You can watch the world change in this thread. Changes in slang, pop culture references, members getting old....

Merry Christmas, RS

I wonder if Hyde's mother was on a forum complaining that dinner was crappy because her kids were useless leaches that wouldn't do anything. I'd love to find a sister (mother?) thread.

In for 2017.............

Two identical threads, but the one in the Food & Fine Dining is the original one.

Teriyaki 12-01-2017 07:50 AM

It makes me so happy to see both threads bumped at exactly the same time.

Lomac 12-01-2017 03:36 PM

MG1 with those ninja RS skills.

Also, glad to see this tradition still kept alive. Where is Hyde these days?

Too rich for my blood.

Foody World has live lobster (although many with single claw) for 9.99/lb. Much better deal IMO.

Edit: oh yeah... Merry x'mas and happy new year RS.

MG1 12-01-2017 04:45 PM

Foody World.......... where you get more than just food.

as in, food poisoning, gulolol.

Presto 12-01-2017 05:31 PM

My company's Christmas party was last night. I skipped the first half of the buffet and went right to the beef, turkey, and ham. Then, I went for 2nds. I don't feel so well today.

LOL I went yesterday and false creek had better water than their tanks.

still bought crab and clams. It was okay, I think it'll pay an extra dollar at osaka.

pastarocket 12-03-2017 01:02 PM

T&T was selling small lobsters, about 1 pound in size, for $11.54/lb this weekend.

-bought two lobsters for dinner yesterday. :fullofwin:

You don't know how hard I laughed at this. I ended up getting admitted at the ER with a severe alleric reaction one summer after getting exposed to the False Creek water.

Had a few hot pot with friends over the past few months. It was awesome! The meats at T&T were yummy and so are fish and meat balls. No seafood though since it was too expensive..... is all about having fun with friends.

originalhypa 12-04-2017 09:34 AM

It's been a lot of years, and I want to make hot pot for my little gwailos.
I was already going to make a nice beef bone broth, but what would you hot pot veterans recommend for the meats, fish and veggies?

for meats I got them from T&T. They have those beef and lamb packs you can get. Make sure you get the ones that's roll already. I also got some fish, beef, shrimp balls as well. Fish paste is also good. I try to get shrimp last time but it was too hard to eat. Get some tofu and white carrots and those tofu puffs as well. Pork blood is good too if you are into it.

Don't forget the sauce! you can buy several cans from T&T and mix up together and get soup base. The spicy one is good! And of course get either beer or those bottled sweet lemon teas.
