If you think Sushi Garden is amazing, you're not much of a connoisseur. There's too much rice on the inside-out rolls, the rolls looks like they were made by an amateur, the sashimi isn't very high grade, and the arrangement of the sushi/sashimi is also amateurish.

| Best Sushi in Richmond: Charcoal Sushi on Westminster Highway
This restaurant serves the best sushi and Korean bbq that I ever had in Richmond.
7997 Westminster Hwy, Unit 250
-went there for lunch with a friend recently. Delicious sushi rolls. The servers are attentive and definitely know the menu items.
Recommend this sushi roll:
Big Roller ( Chopped Scallop + Tempura Crunch topped with Unagi and Avocado ).
-will definitely go back to Charcoal to try out their dinner menu and Korean BBQ.
The only drawback to this restaurant is the location. Because Charcoal is on the 2nd floor next to London Drugs, the restaurant is not visible on the street level when you drive down that part of Richmond.
Good reviews on dinehere.ca: http://dinehere.ca/richmond/charcoal...bbq-restaurant

Is Charcoal the one that took the spot of the korean place between London Drugs and the Chinese Seafood restaurant?

My personal favourites are Octopus' Garden on Cornwall and Maple, Kingyo (more of an Izakaya) on Denman & Haro, Yuji's Japanese Tapas on 4th & Burrard, Shiro on Cambie & 15th, or Tokiwa on Oak and 22nd. Of all the places I listed, Shiro is probably the best bang for the buck.
I used to go to Kibune on Cornwall & Yew, but they've really dropped in quality recently. Their prices are also a bit high. I didn't mind the high prices, as the food was good. I've noticed hardly any Japanese people there anymore, just Kits locals who don't know any better.

The supplier would call us or the salesman would come by and tell us when the Buri is going to come in and if we would like a fillet. In our case, it's so similar to Hamachi I rarely ordered it. Sometime I wouldn't order Hamachi and bring in the Buri just for kicks. One thing many people don't know is that Buri and Hamachi are the same fish. Buri is the adult fish, Hamachi is the juvenile. There is also a name for a baby Buri that is smaller than Hamachi, about 30cm long, but I forgot its name - I just remember it as being very tasty! I personally don't like eating Hamachi/Buri because 100% of the fish sold here is farmed and air lifted from Japan - this is why it's so expensive here. In Japan, Hamachi isn't very popular, and it's very cheap. The baby Hamachi is wild caught, not as fatty, and it doesn't have that metallic aftertaste that farmed fish tend to have.
