Shima-ya has extremely fresh fish, the owner was the head sushi chef at Chiyoda on Alberni Street before they closed a few years back. Its located at 5589 Victoria at 41st and like all good sushi places they are closed on Mondays (its a fish supply thing). Prices are very reasonable and there's lots of free parking around plus there's a London Drugs next door in case you need to do any last minute shopping.

It has to do with the fact that most of Canada's statutory holidays are on a Monday, so it saves labour costs to be closed on Mondays.

May as well put this question in this thread.
Are there any good sushi restaurants in Surrey aside from Hanako? I don't care about size of the rolls or anything, I just want some quality fresh sushi for a decent price.
Tobiko on 160th St and Fraser Hwy is pretty good, but aside from them and Hanako I don't know of any others worth going to.
Akasaka used to be good but over the past year their quality has suffered.

in sushi house's case, its bad service (and wait times) and decent food with big portions. you see mostly young people in there because for them they're willing to wait long and endure bad service.

Akasaka used to be good but over the past year their quality has suffered. | Think i already posted this in here somewhere but, hands down best sushi in surrey is Tokachi on KG and 108. its pretty highly rated on all the food websites as well.
