Haha probably not considering the price of parts if anything breaks lol

I was really tempted to buy a FJ Cruiser for that purpose but I couldn't justify the plastic interior.

you can bring it on some easy trails just for fun. plus that thing looks brand spankin new you should be able to get everything fixed under warranty :)

I'm down for some easy trails :) I drove it to Sumas Mountain and there's a gravel section that leads to a park that was pretty fun. I remember going in my IS350 and it was bumpy as hell, with the SUV it felt like tiny pebbles.

There's an area right behind Silvercity in Richmond my friend told me about but I haven't had a chance to check it out.

It's called triangle behind silver city in richmond. I've had good times there especially tire fires at night lol

Thanks for the name, I remember he mentioned triangle something...He said it's pretty sweet at night, start a tire/camp fire and not get hassled.

Is it mainly hills or like a huge mud pit?

My suv is stock so I don't want to get stuck lol

murd0c 06-10-2012 04:15 PM

you always have a chance of getting stuck and it's a lot smaller then it used to. But theres some mud/water sand. It's alright for what it is.

I haven't been there for a year but last time I went with Phil@rise and we had a massive tire fire with skidder tires cause companies used to dump them there and theres a shit ton laying around.

We had to stand back about 30' massive flames good times, good times.

NLY 06-10-2012 04:19 PM

Haha nice I'll check it out with some friends just in case I get stuck.

I did have a question though, if I was to drive into a large puddle and water/mud/dirt splashes up into my engine bay, wouldn't that harm the car especially if it gets the alternator/distributor wet?

Sorry for my newb question, I'm only asking because I remember driving through very heavy rain once, (not in a SUV but in a 4 dr sedan) and the car stalled and stopped running from going through a puddle.

T4RAWR 06-10-2012 04:21 PM

a little splash should be ok, no different than driving in a big rain puddle.

more concerned about whether or not your breathers for diff, transmission and transfer case are located in higher places.

murd0c 06-10-2012 04:27 PM

You will be fine driving in water that at least covers your wheels. Just don't park there lol

NLY 06-10-2012 04:39 PM

Maybe I should go off road the day before my oil change since they'll wash the car anyways

T4RAWR 06-10-2012 04:48 PM

if you are in richmond or planning to head out to triangle i wouldnt mind coming out to check out what an ML can do.

i'll bring a recovery strap and shackles just incase.

You may be regretting that when warranty is up and ya gotta start fixin it or when the resale kills you.

T4RAWR 06-12-2012 01:32 PM

i am really curious as to how the ML will do off road.

rizo; you in the richmond area? we can head out to triangle beach and see what that ML can do.

MindBomber 06-12-2012 01:41 PM

Anyone who takes an ML off road must have balls the size of coconuts, or at least a very large checkbook.

You could buy a decent bush truck for an equivalent cost to repairing a bit of damage done to an ML trying to take it off road.
