93 4Runner. All stock. Bought it in April as a camping vehicle. Looking at bigger tires and body lift in the future.

Took it up to Mt. Cheam earlier today.

do suspension lift first, before you do the body lift... OME springs, and crack the front torsion bars 3 turns, or buy balljoint spacers... body lift does not give you any more ground clearance...

i finally managed to part with my 03 tl a-spec and got my self a 2010 ford f-150 xlt supercrew. i never thought i could say this about ford trucks, but i honestly love this thing.

i just got my 1994 v6 4runner running a couple days ago! picked it up for a few hundred bucks, rebuilt a motor for it and slapped some BFG mud terrains on it. it should be good enough for me. maybe some day i'll build a weekend only rig, this one is driven daily!

just got a ton of work done in the last couple of weekends, pulled a few late nights to get new upper ball joints in, moog "cargo coil" rear springs and daystar 1 1/4" rear coil spacers as well as rear axle seals etc etc, just want to make it reliable. i need longer rear shocks so I'll probably go with KYB's since i can get them cheap. i'm also thinking of cranking up the front torsion bars or getting ball joint spacers to lift the front 1/2" to 1". i like the rear a bit higher because all the camping and fishing gear, tools and gas cans really weigh down the back. is it pretty normal to have a much stiffer ride after installing coil spacers? i'm guessing it has something to do with the progressive springs or shocks that are too short

that was taken before the coil spacers.

just soak your torsion bar bolts in penetrating lube first... and crack them 3 turns max... i suggest some manual hubs too, that'll help save your CV joints/boots...

OME medium rear coils were the best springs i found to put into the back of the 2nd gen 4runner... comfortable ride, yet capable of taking a LOT of weight in the back...

nickmak 10-27-2010 05:07 PM

i've got manual hubs already, previous owner put them on. are there any down sides to having stiff suspension off road? i haven't gotten the chance to go anywhere to try it out yet. i don't mind the stiffer ride but i dont want to have any negative affects off road.

oh yeah i looked into OME springs to lift up the rear a bit but most springs lift 2", i only wanted 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" at the back and a tiny bit up front to keep it from looking like a dragster. but i've heard only good things about OME springs
