Personally, I think that Stanley Park isn't as scary as some other places around the Lower Mainland but weird things do happen there.
Here's a true story that happened to me in stanley park ...
This happened last year and it was around 11:30 at night in March of last year. Anyways, i was with a friend and we were driving around Stanley park for fun. We didn't have n e thing to do so we just drove around near the seawalk. Anyways, we passed prospect point and just right we drove past prospect point, me and my friend heard some crackling coming from the left side (and on the left side, there is some trees and forest). Anyways, we disregarded the crackling noise we heard coming from the trees (it sounded more like a big truck running over some gravel) We were only travelling at about 40 km/h and suddenly, out of nowhere..
a HUGE tree fell on the hood~!
Luckily none of us got hurt but if we had travelled a little faster, the tree might have fell on the hood. The creepy part about it was that we were both telling each other scary stories at the time when it happened. Well, the tree was really big and was so long that it also crushed the fence on the other side of the road.
not long after, there were a bunch of people were surrounding us and taking pictures. There was a grad class celebrating at prospect point and they just took some pics of the tree and the car (it was pretty embarassing for me :D ) Afterwards, we call the cops and they came and investigated. We told them the story and the cop was in disbelief. Luckily, there was a man that was right behind us when it happened and he was a witness to the whole thing. He thought it was pretty creepy that the tree would fall right on the hood for no reason.
One scary thing was that the weather was fine..there was absolutely
no wind and the night was clear so there was no possible way the tree could fall like that. Another thing was that when the cop went to investigate the tree, he noted that the tree was NOT rotting at all. He thought it might be foul play but then there were no chainsaw marks or n e thing that might indicate that someone might have done it. I looked at the tree trunk where it snapped off and the wood looked fresh. Well, after that happened, i returned to the same spot a week later. Anyways, the fence was fixed and the tree was cleaned off the road. The tree trunk was saw off too.
If you happen to drive a little past prospect point, you can still see the sawed-off tree trunk on the left side where the tree trunk fell on our hood.
