Ichigo_Milk | 01-04-2002 05:54 AM | Scary Places/Stories in Vancouver A while ago, my friend was telling me several local stories...scary ones that people are suppose to avoid doing or else something bad happens. You know..for example, if you drive down the UBC highway at 140 km/h while passing a certain lampost, you're suppose to see this woman in the car or mirror. Yeah..i hear all these stories and i do them all to defy them or prove that they're wrong for fun. :D
Anyways, I heard this story about "Dick's Grave" in Lighthouse Park (West Vancouver) where there's suppose to be some graveyard and if you park your car there at night, your car might not start and it's VERY dark up there~! My friend told me that you're suppose to hear people whispering aruond you if you step outside. Another friend told me that his friend had went up there and there was a upside down tricycle there with the wheels turning. :p
Well, we decided to go up there tonight to check it out at 2:30 in the morning. I live in Surrey so the drive from here to West Van was roughly about 40 minutes. He was driving a '91 lowered turbocharged MR2 and the roads up there near the park was crazy...so many potholes and it wasn't paved properly~! Let's just say we experienced a little bumpiness along the way. It was a pretty remote area but on the side of the road through the trees, we could still catch a glimpse of Vancouver (nice view~!) well, we finally got near the park and i noticed that there were more trees and less street lamps. To get to the park, you have to wind through some really narrow, twisting, poorly-paved roads. We finally came to the entrance of the park and from where we were, we could already see pitch black and the trees were HUGE~! We entered the park and there were trees on both sides. We drove for several metres until we approached a gate that was closed off to cars. I was so disappointed~! and I couldn't even find the tombstone~! (Does anybody know what I'm suppose to do there?) Even though we didn't get too far in the park, it was already pitch black and we could hardly see a thing. We had to put the cra into reverse but then i was so afraid that if we tried to back the car up, we'll hit another pothot or go into a ditch and have the car stuck. well, we finally made it out of there safely but the way out of there was pretty bumpy as well. We decided to drive around the area and the place is quite scary and creepy in some streets 'cuz some of the roads are narrow and full of dead ends.
Anyways, I was just wondering if anybody knows some other local stories or places they believe are "haunted" by a legend or something..keke..just something dumb to kill time when i'm out somewhere. :) Thanx~! |
