i remember when RS first started, when the discussions were smarter, the posts were wittier, and the members were... eh, better than now.

i've been a member of this board since someone close to me forced me to join it, making me the eighth or so member (something i suppose i should be ashamed of ;) ). i've seen members come and go as i lurked on here and didn't post much, although every now and then someone would piss me off so much that i'd really want to say something.

but now, as i have hit my upteenth post, i see a new trend of members. stupid, ignorant, mindless idiots who do nothing on RS but annoy everyone else. they are hard to break when arguing with their stupidity but are easily threatened when confronted with intellect. they pick fights, they start shit, they attempt to offend other members. they treat the internet as their life and all that is said to them are personal attacks; they are the lost souls which cannot be saved.

i'll admit -- some people (including myself) can be mean and stubborn when it comes to discussions on this board. but i'll take strong convictions over painful ignorance any day.

RS has gone downhill because of these members. i guess there's nothing to do but just bitch and moan about it. which is precisely the purpose of this thread.

Well, I just joined this forum in January because I wanted to learn more about the car that I was driving...

And just last weekend, I just decided to poke my head in the VLS forums, and they're really interesting! I think that there are just some people who just post for the fun of it and there are some who have really interesting things to say. In my opinion, it's all about the nature of the forum... I think that having too many adult and intellectual conversations would get tedious and monotonous, but at the same, too many juvenile discussions would just get stupid...

So, I suppose a medium must be found for both...

But, not to refute your opinion, but that's my opinion on the matter. I can't really judge with the same accuracy that you have, but for the sake of brevity, I'll just say that I like this forum!

but mostly it is just the observation i've made that the new members have gotten "stupider". i remember when i thought nipples's posts were bad. but they've improved. there seems to be a lack of improvement of the content here on RS. so many people with so many different views, and instead they post pictures of naked women and pieces of turd. that's human regression, i tell ya.

but then again, there are wonderful people on this board. some people i have the pleasure of knowing in real life (prior to this board, of course). interacting with people you don't know can be great intellectual stimulation. but i just get tired of seeing the same un-funny porn pictures and assholes and lame-ass jokes over and over again... infinitum. and also people who will tell you you're stupid because you use the words you learned in school. if you can't be yourself in such an anonymous setting, where can you be yourself?

While I absolutely agree that RS has it's share of morons that do everything that you've stated above...live with it. This isn't MENSA nor will we discuss the works of George Orwell and their significance in modern democratic society.

This just isn't the place for it. This is primarily an import scene car website, not a meeting place for the future Republicans of America.

Don't judge people simply because of what they post. Hell, I don't think I've ever posted anything that provokes intellectual though...but I don't think I'm stupid. Heh...in fact, MENSA would most likely (80%) accept me into their snooty-ass ranks.

So we're not all geniuses who speak in 18th century English. We're the frat boys that are smart enough for university and yet spend all our time drinking. :D
