- St. Catherines street for shopping
- DO NOT go to the Olympic Stadium or Observatory. It's a ghost town there and will bore you to tears
- the Metro is your friend
- Schwartz for killer smoked meat sandwiches, and from my experience, the waiters were really friendly
- Peel Pub just off St. Catherines (St. Catherines and Peel St. ) has a nice college pub culture
- Old Montreal
- Don't listen to anyone who tells you to eat at Ben's because its a dump and also the worst food I've ever had in my life (no joke)
- For accomodations, just check out expedia.ca

I remember the arms dinner specials..the question is, who in their right mind would eat at a strip club.

Montreal nightlife is most definitely fun.

Hondaracer 02-14-2008 10:39 PM

Montreal

Planning a trip to go see a buddy who goes to Bishops univ. in late april 22nd - 29th since it will be towards the end of finals for everyone not that many ppl/parties will be at the school when we go so we figure we will all go back and party in montreal for the majority of the time

any suggestions on where to go/ what to see? and where to stay?

There's a university right in the DT. Lots of college students goto the clubs around there. I forget the street names though. There's one street where you'll find a more diverse crowd (college kids, tourists etc) and there's another street where you'll find a more francophone crowd.

Old Montreal is cool but it is touristy and not a true representation of the culture there. But you might as well check it out... they have cobblestone streets there.

St. Catherine street is one of the main streets in DT. Has lots of shopping and restaurants.

You must eat at least one smoked meat sandwhich when there... "Schwarts" is one of the popular places. It's really busy though (line ups) and the restaurant itself is small.

Also eat a poutine.

There's a pretty cool club there called Fafeune i think or Phapheun or Fafoon or something. It's a 3 story club and they have a half-pipe built into the club on the second floor. Kick back, drink, and watch people get down on the half pipe. Fun times.

Peel Pub one night. 737 the next night. Grab lunch at St Hubert and Schwartz. Shop at Les Cours Mont Royal and Simons.

That about sums up Montreal. My favourite place to travel.

You can also usually find a cheap car rental ($15 per day) and head up to Quebec City for a night.

Hondaracer 02-17-2008 12:40 PM

is quebec city worth the trip?

as of now the itineraire [sp] is looking like we're heading to bishops university where my friends go for 2 nights, then going back and staying at the Hyatt in downtown montreal for the remainder of the trip, bishops is like 2 hours away from downtown and the airport so we will most likely be renting a car for the first 2 days at least

bcrdukes 02-17-2008 04:24 PM

The Hyatt is a good location. I've stayed there before. Pretty good hotel.

I stayed at the Hyatt about 3 weeks ago. Not a bad place. It has a decent gym and pool. Good location. The nice thing about it is that it's connected to a food court via the underground tunnels so there's tons of food options to choose from.

For me Quebec City was worth it. It's like leaving Canada and being in Europe. It's also great if you're into seeing historic sights.
