Any criticism/comments/compliments are welcome..did I do something good? something not so good? something I can think about next time to get an even better picture? Since I'm still learning, anything to help me improve is very welcome.

PS: All pictures taken with my D90 with the 18-200 VR lens. Since it was a pretty nice day, most of the pictures were set at Auto WB, but I did play with Sunny and Cloudy settings for some of them. Also, I mixed around from using shutter priority, aperture priority and some manual as well.

I'd say the above image is your best one, as it tells a story. You're off to a good start. For wildlife photography, you generally need to get in close, so try to get in closer.

Nice shots Senna. What setup did you use this time?

ColinK 03-08-2009 06:30 PM

I especially like that second ducky shot :)

Some from a quiet day at Reifel today. Sunny, but really windy.

Ha ha I like the jump shot of the sparrow, good timing and focus.

I'm just catching up on some editing, getting a little behind, its way more fun too shoot than it is to edit

these are great photos! I need to make a trip down there one day

niforpix 03-24-2009 10:33 PM

Kyle, are most of those (or all) taken with your Bigma?

Thanks. It won Picture of the Week on a Sony/Minolta forum. Everyone was commenting on the 'great' Minolta colours and the sharpness of the Minolta glass. I don't have the guts to tell them the image was taken with a Nikon D300 + Nikon 400mm f2.8 VR. I was also shooting with my a700 + Minolta 200mm f2.8 which I think may be sharper than the 400mm f2.8 though.

*whistle*

All except the last one, which was taken with my 17-50 2.8 from less than 2 feet away (really small owl)

niforpix 03-25-2009 07:56 AM

^^ nice work! :)

BoS_DC2 03-25-2009 01:07 PM

that's a nice capture of the owl!

c00si 03-26-2009 09:51 AM

Nice shots of the eagles at the Reifel... I never see them that close there.

This is a 100% crop of the above photo, gotta be one of the sharpest photos I have seen out of my lowly 30D, using Mananetwork's 400mm 5.6 wide open, 1/125 eek

niforpix 03-26-2009 08:55 PM

Awesome shots, once again :)

77civic1200 03-26-2009 09:07 PM

Thanks, you still have your faux Bigma? tried it on the 40D yet? I am curious about the AF speed on the 40/50D's

niforpix 03-26-2009 09:18 PM

^^ lol nah, I sold it. Now I have a 40D with a 50 F1.4. Went from 500mm to 50mm *that's what she said* :p It's more of my kind of shooting set up anyway. I've used the 500mm like 4 times last year, since then it's been collecting dust. I like my set up now much more. Plus I still have my 70-300mm IS if I ever need some sort of zoom :)

77civic1200 03-26-2009 09:25 PM

hint

niforpix 03-26-2009 09:30 PM

^^ lol

Senna4ever 03-26-2009 09:56 PM

The 400mm f5.6 is a super sharp lens. We should be getting one in the rentals dept soon, along with a 500mm f4 IS.

I went to Reifel today! Beautiful day! Lots of birds, and people out today! i don't have anything as good as Senna or 77Civic, but here are a few snaps from today.

Anyways, thanks for looking! Leave good or bad comments if you like. I didn't really edit them much, pretty much straight out of the camera. Shot with 40D + 70-200mm F2.8 Non-IS.
