Yeah, I've seen bumblebees on the ground, lethargic and not able to fly. I don't know what the deal is there. Maybe they're too full from drinking nectar? Haha..

Holy shit Senna those are unreal! I'm so jealous! I would love to have a 500mm F4 to use! The hummingbirds are getting so big now! Looks to be they're ready to jump! Now you can see the difference between the pro's vs. the joe's! Thats really amazing work!

Did you get any BIF around the nest?

Trust me, in this case, it made ALL the difference. That lens is so effin' sharp.

Boostslut, are you using the 400 F5.6L? Your pics are super sharp. I love 'em.

Yuppers that's the one! Thanks Niforpox! Its such an awesome lens i love it! I don't think I'll ever give it up! If anyone wants a great tele-prime that's a decent price, the 400mm F5.6L is the one for-sure! I'll thought about it for so long and I'm glad I made the decision.

Nice! I just sold my car so it's tempting hehe... Do you shoot it mostly hand held or on a tripod? Question is, would you give it up if they came out with an IS version of it?

I mostly use it hand held or with a mono-pod. Its not heavy but my arms do get a bit tired trying to hold it up for minutes at a time. I would only give it up for a 500mm F4, or a 600mm F4. Its also fantastic with a crop sensor, just because of the reach you get. That's quite obvious though.

I was going to delete this one, but upon review, I decided to keep it. D300 + 500mm f4.

Thanks niforpix! And yeah he broke the branch! I thought the shot came together pretty well. I was waiting there for about 45 minutes or so to get this shot.

These guys kept staring at me the whole time. Not a very artistic image, but it was funny to me.

WOW! These shots are so unbelievable! How do you guys get the height to get that kind of angle? Are the Eagles really low? You really high? Or just really far back?

More "Wows" for you Senna! First one is cute, and second one is amazing! How were you situated? And camera setup ect? Is that the 500mm F4? Crop? Flash? Sorry, alot of questions. Very nice! I'd love to be in a situation where i could get a photo that close.

For my photo i was at the Boundary Bay Dyke. Didn't see a whole lot there but a harrier and then this eagle. I stood there with my camera on a monopod for about 45 minutes until he jumped off the tree. Finally got something good so it was worth it!

Thanks, Colin. The nest shot was from quite far away with the 500mm f4. The nest is very high up this tree, but the nest is very open. It was quite comical...those chicks kept following me as I moved around to get a better shot. I don't know...were they trying to figure out if I'd be a good meal or not?

Here is a wide angle shot of the nest.

The close-up of the adult was taken yesterday at the nest at Vanier Park - just go down to where the boat launch is, and it's in the big tree to the right of the launching ramp. That nest isn't as high up as the one near Reifel, but it is obscured by leaves and branches. Gear was just a D300, 400mm f2.8 VR and a Manfrotto carbon tripod, no flash. The light was nice...the sun was starting to go down. I did crop it a bit so that the eagle's shoulder was pinned to the lower left, and the branch was coming in from the upper right.

It looks like I was up higher because the bird shifted its body and angled down a bit. You can tell in most of my other photos of the bird that I was shooting up.

This pic, however is of an eagle sitting very low in a tree, and very close. This is not cropped much.
