Lucky enough to bump into a friend who let me use his 600mm F4L....put a 1.4 on it as well.

It's no match for Jomo's and your 'L' glass, though.

Where are your pics???

Jomo 02-14-2006 02:31 PM

I LOVE your last photo E-DA9! Fantastic. I wish I had a chance to play with a 500 or 600 f/4!

Senna4ever 02-14-2006 10:56 PM

I wish I had $10,000 to blow on a 600mm f4..... :(

MikesJo 02-15-2006 12:52 AM

E-DA9 that lost shot is great.

Jomo, don't you have a 600 f/4?

Senna4ever 02-15-2006 12:57 AM

He has a 300mm f4 L IS.

Jomo 02-15-2006 05:17 AM

300 f/4L IS + 1.4x teleconverter + 1.6x crop factor sensor = 672mm f/4L IS... kinda.

I really want a true 500 f/4L IS though... it's my dream lens.

70-200 F4, looks good but I wonder if I should have gotten the 70-300IS instead, the extra zoom and IS would have made up for L glass quality?

In that case, yes.

Mana: My 300 stays with me! I got lucky with a damn sharp copy from the store, the only way you'll pry that from my grip is if I'm dead or I replace it with a 300 f/2.8

so... i'm gonna eat my words about the "good equipment" haha...
those are awesome photos guys.

E-DA9 02-15-2006 09:27 PM

Actually the 75-300 IS USM is not so great. ITz better off getting a 1.4 or 2X converter. I've tested the 75-300 at work and it's not so great. It's small and light though. The 70-200 F4 is an awesome lens for sure...I miss mine, wish i had kept it (sold it for a 70-200 2.8 IS) as a lighter alternative on more casual shoots.

Mananetwork

what lens is that for your last shot.. looks tac sharp with great color.

70-200 F2.8 IS is an insanley expensive lens... when I am indoors or even outdoors I wish I had it.. but man o man the price just chops u in the face...

Still need to find a 67mm CPL for my 70-200

BTW quick question is everyone shooting RAW and PP in photoshop... custom or just set "as shot" or are you guys doing jpeg?

You're talking about the wrong lens. The 75-300 IS USM is crap. The NEW 70-300 IS is producing very nice results. I've seen some top knotch L quality photos.
