Spent a few hours walking around Colony Farm looking for a Lazuli Bunting....
Song Sparrow:

Male Rufous Hummingird was sleeping on a branch. He was there for about 10 minutes resting.

At last! A Luzuli Bunting! I've never seen one, but it's a very pretty bird...too bad he was facing away from me.

on this day they were looking for food on my lawn and i ran to find a camera and grabbed this one went down and they were still there but just getting ready to leave

Sweet looking birds. Too bad the lighting in the photo wasn't a bit better.

That is an incredible focus action shot on that hummingbird!

Senna4ever 06-09-2010 10:11 PM

How did you manage to get that shot???

I'd lighten up the image a bit, as it is a bit dark.

1dmk2 with my sigma 70-200 @ 2.8. AI servo, bursting on high speed. little dude just stopped in front of me and i was able to get ONE photo in time before he deeked. LOVE the 1 series response time but even still it was a bitch! my gf's parents have a bunch of feeders and every night they literally swarm it. that was the only shot i could manage away from the feeders tho, the rest are all in flight right beside the feeder = meh.

Edit: It's a Northern Flicker, a large woodpecker. :D

StylinRed 06-11-2010 07:51 AM

^^^ very cool haven't seen those before

ive got this bird that looks just like a crow hanging around my house except it has super Orange feet and is always alone

havent been able to snap a pic or figure out what kind of bird it is.. unless its like a mutant crow

european 06-11-2010 05:11 PM

Yup! Northern flickr. It's cherping outside my window right now! It must have a nest near by or in my yard somewhere.
Try to snap a picture of the crow like bird with orange feet. I skimmed through my bird book but can't seem to find a match. Any more info?

Awesome bird photos everyone! Keep'em coming!

bcrdukes 06-11-2010 05:18 PM

I think there's several that are nesting in one of the larger trees on my block. I can hear it pecking the tree in the afternoon however, they seem to come down for food randomly.

You'd better hurry up and go to Reifel before he gets eaten like it's sibling.

77civic1200 06-18-2010 06:04 AM

Did you make soup?

Senna4ever 06-18-2010 07:03 AM

Went for a hike up to St. Mark's Summit @ Cypress. When we reached the summit, all the birds were curious. Perhaps interested in our lunches. These birds got extremely close.
