This one is my favorite :) Look at those large talons!!!! lol

There were some Bald Eagles but they always hide high up in some trees near the water and my 200mm can't catch them the way I want it. Soon I'll get a 300mm and see how that goes as I don't think I'm ready to get a 400mm prime. I have much to learn about photography still...

Here is another Hawk that was screaming its head off hah. I tried filming it with my D90 but its too far away. It was much louder in person you could hear it throughout the whole park.

Euro, thats so awesome! Lucky that you got so close! This never happens to me! Great pictures my friend, looks like you had some tricky conditions to deal with. Those talons are nasty, wouldn't want to come anywhere close to them!

Thank you! The conditions were so so but I'm still really proud of these photos. The sun beaming in front of me didn't really help but the photos turned out best with f5.6 and about 125-160 shutter speed. Everything else was either too dark and I wouldn't get much detail.
I know eh! The bird moved a few times and I started to move back slowly as I honestly thought it was going to attack or swoop in front of me. I thought to myself.. "it's going to poke my eyes out with those things"

I'm really amazed at how their wings are when in flight or during lift off. So graceful yet dangerous to their prey.

I have some more photos, funny photos... It started to move its wings so I was getting ready for some action but it actually just pooped and aamzingly I got it on camera! lol
I'll be back with more next weekend. I really want some sweet Bald Eagle shots.

Thanks again
Mike

Sounds handy! haha.. (the pooping photo was taken with a 500L as well)

Jason, great shots all around buddy! Never gets old seeing any of those Herons, Sandhill's, or Eagle! Do you ever use the 1.4x extender? A 700mm F5.6L IS is pretty sweet!

I saw them out in Ladner. I'm going to Brackendale tomorrow or Sunday if I can wake up early enough.

Nice shot, but there is no such thing as a "Snow Jay." That's a Steller's Jay - Cyanocitta stelleri.

obviously a joke. http://www.photoforum.com/index.php?showtopic=62312 notice the thread title, haha!

oh yeah, hella eagle shots!

Senna4ever 11-21-2010 06:29 PM

How is it a joke?

Thanks, went back to Mission today, but I had shitty timing all day. They were never there when I went to the locations. :( People would tell me that "yeah, there was a whole bunch of eagles there (pointing to sandbar 100ft away) about 1 hour ago," or "they all took off just before you came." :fuuuuu:
