Did you take those at Brackendale or out by Mission?

Between Hemlock and Deroche

Senna4ever 11-23-2010 01:19 AM

Was that from the dykes by the side of the road between Hemlock & Deroche? What time were you there? I was there yesterday around 11am, but there were none there. A guy said that there were about 150 of them in the morning around 9:30. Looks like you had much better luck than me!

That cute little guy was an injured owl that was being rehabilitated. The handler was in Mission.

Apparently hit by a car, and broke his left wing.

96GOLFGT: This thread is for images of birds that you have taken yourself.

That's not cool! Slow down people!
Very nice shots. I'm always excited when I see you post something up. Always loving your photos. I'm heading up to Brackendale Saturday early early morning to catch some Bald Eagles. Hopefully I can capture something great with my 200. Saving all of my extra earnings for a Nikon 300mm AF-S f4 as I cannot afford the 400mm as of right now.

Went to Brackendale early this morning and holy crow I've never seen so many eagles in one spot. It was apparently freezing but I couldn't feel anything as I was pumped on so much adrenaline running through my veins! I love bird watching. I really want a nikon 300mm f4. I have about 600 eagle photos to go through and probably only 5 of them turned out but here is a Blue Heron I sneaked up on.

I'll post the eagle photos tomorrow I'm so exhausted. I'm off to bed.

PS

I LOVE BALD EAGLES OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!

Hello,

I see I have some huge competition from other wildlife photographers on here and I am no where near their level but I thought I could share my photos anyways :)

I went up to Brackendale/Squamish area of British Columbia on Sunday and I came back with these. All photos were shot in the wild with my D90 and 18-200mm VR. Every photo was at 200mm f5.6 and ISO ranges from 200-400. I'm working towards my 300mm f4 lens once I get it I'll be able to get more quality photos and much closer subjects as well.

My flight photos are terrible in my opinion but like I said I'm working towards that new lens. Hopefully very soon!

Holy shit, the eagles were really close! The brown bird is a juvenile - they get the white heads at around 2 years old. Where did you go in Brackendale? The sheltered lookout, or further up north in that valley? I'm thinking of going next weekend to test our new D7000 with a 400mm f2.8VR. If anyone wants to tag along, you are welcome to do so.

First went to the dyke and there was a lot of activity there. Must have been a good amount of food in the water as many birds were trying to feed. I couldn't get as close as I wanted due to my lens but they were everywhere. I counted about 30+ across the river and around 15-20 above and around the trees near the lookout.

I then went further down south heading towards downtown Squamish. Right beside a gun club. They were shooting all morning long. So loud! I thought the birds would fly away due to the noise but they didn't care one bit.

I then ended up just walking along the whole river pretty much and just snapping away at everything!

Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate it. I know I would like a 400mm f2.8 VR that Senna mentioned above but I can't afford that right now. So the 300mm will have to do.

I'm going back very soon. Next sunny weekend I'll be there all morning long. So I'll have more photos to share!
By the way, I love that Pelican! Great shot!

m3thods 11-30-2010 10:25 AM

It's too bad we don't get too many pelicans our way all the way up here :( I'd love to see them more often as I find them very funny. :D

Boost what's that small black bird? It's so cute!

Boostslut 12-05-2010 05:46 PM

This thread needs more awesomeness! So i present you with a Black-Tailed Kite! I just missed having the whole bird in the photo by inches. Argh, well thats how it goes. I still like the shot! Taken with 7D + 70-200mm F2.8 Non-IS
