this is Boundary Bay, right amongst the owls. (there are actually a few owls just out of the shot.)

i was at Reifel and saw the biggest friggin woodpecker i ever saw. this guy was near 30cm(12") high, and just destroying this tree. its a Red Headed Piliated Woodpecker, and unfortunately, this was the best shot i got.

Went to BB to get some Owl shots with the snow. By the time i got there, there was no more snow falling and they didn't get too much snow there either. Still great fun, DARN cold out though! -8, i couldn't smile or make a facial expression because my skin was so cold! Mesh runners too! Was just playing around in photoshop with the back and white, with a dash of yellow eyes.

did you see Woody before the parking lot @ Reifel? (i'd say a couple hundred meters before the road opens up in the parking area, in the trees that line the road.)

Nope, i didn't see him there. I was just walking along a path just after the entrance. I guess he get's around.

The last shot, with the spread wings, did you shoot that in raw? any way to bring back the detail in the wings? its an awesome pose, good timing!

I did shoot in RAW and didn't edit the pic. It's very back lite, and a tough picture with the lighting conditions. I'll give it a whirl though! Thanks for the comment!
