Rarest Bird in Canada as of now - the Red Flanked Bluetail. Only one known individual, and the first confirmed sighting in Canada. Cute little guy, but he's all alone. :( He should be in Asia now, but he somehow got lost migrating and ended up in New Westminster of all places! The 1DX holds up well at high ISO - some of these were shot at 8000 ISO as I inadvertently changed custom settings. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/IMG_5050.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/IMG_5064.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/IMG_5071.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/IMG_5126.jpg |

When is the best time to go to boundary bay to catch the owls and eagles? Posted via RS Mobile |
I think right now is a good time! In the summer, it's good too I think, and the bird sanctuaries. I think I've found my perfect birding setup on a semi budget. Nikon D5100 + 70-200mm f2.8 VR2 + 2x Tele = 600mm equivalent. This seems to be the cheapest birding setup that may have enough reach. And it can be handheld. |
thanks brian:) i'm going to try getting out there sometime this week. |
|
where do you guys go locally to take these awesome shots of owls, eagles and falcons? |
Most of the owl and raptor shots here are from Boundary Bay Park in Delta. Squamish right now is not too bad for Eagles these days as well. |
You should also check out Reifel Bird Sanctuary. It's pretty sweet. |
