I got it earlier today...will post later. Pretty little thing - very small though, not much bigger than a chickadee.

I have a picture of the 1DX screen that I took with my iPhone on Instagram (confusioncircle).

Most likely the rarest bird in North America, the Red Flanked Bluetail:

Rarest Bird in Canada as of now - the Red Flanked Bluetail. Only one known individual, and the first confirmed sighting in Canada. Cute little guy, but he's all alone. He should be in Asia now, but he somehow got lost migrating and ended up in New Westminster of all places! The 1DX holds up well at high ISO - some of these were shot at 8000 ISO as I inadvertently changed custom settings.

i would say it's a thrush. pretty sure about that. the "ring" around the eye is the tell.

I think right now is a good time! In the summer, it's good too I think, and the bird sanctuaries.

I think I've found my perfect birding setup on a semi budget.

Nikon D5100 + 70-200mm f2.8 VR2 + 2x Tele = 600mm equivalent. This seems to be the cheapest birding setup that may have enough reach.

And it can be handheld.

Most of the owl and raptor shots here are from Boundary Bay Park in Delta. Squamish right now is not too bad for Eagles these days as well.

You should also check out Reifel Bird Sanctuary. It's pretty sweet.
