N.V.M. Where did you see the Long-Eared Owl? Everyone is able to find the Owl at Boundary Bay but I never end up seeing it. Several people informed me that its usually sitting in the bushes around the ditch but I can't seem to find the Owl. |
The answer is on my photo forums.(under Animals/Birds) Btw, check out the other Long Ear Owl thread, great hints there! Posted via RS Mobile |

Jason, that looks like a Peregrine Falcon. i've come to know the Harriers quite well. and i'm looking and thinking, Harriers don't have "pants". here, i too caught a fight over a rodent on saturday, albeit not a very great capture, but you can clearly see the Harrier's markings, especially through the tail. http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...harrierowl.jpg and yes, the owl gave it up too. |
Yea thats definitely a Falcon. Awesome photos though Senna! What's the deal with the Short-Eared Owls giving up their catch? As soon as the Owl finds a meal the Harriers come out of no where and swoop right in waiting for the Owl to drop its prey. |
does anyone know what type of bird this is? http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8495/8...f5b4af56_c.jpg by sunny jhooty, on Flickr |
^^^ Juvenile Bald Eagle. Whoops, I meant to write Falcon. Fuck me.....but I've never seen a Peregrine punk another bird before! |
