if you don't get out real early now days, the lighting gets pretty harsh real fast. by the time they open at 8 over at Iona, and i get to a spot and set up, forget it. here's a pair(female,male) of Purple Martins.

I wish I had a longer lens. I've been watching the woodpeckers that excavated a hole for their new home in a dead tree in my parents backyard. They've been having some sexy time lately and more then once too 
I'm trying to catch them in action again lol

the skies were quite clear before 9 AM though, and i was out at 72nd for a while waiting for Reifel to open. saw a few eagles:
this is on the roof of that humungous house 
and this is atop of a power pole 
but, by the time i scooted over to Reifel, clouds:
this is at the entrance, before the bridge 
and this is inside Reifel, on the big tree just before the trails split up. (1.4x TC on)
