However, there is a new lens by Tamron, the 150-600mm that for about $1,200 is a hell of a deal. Sigma is about to release their own 150-600mm lens, so there are two choices for telephoto zooms that go to 600mm, albeit a slow f6.3 aperture. But in good light, you get image quality that is not too bad at all.

For $1200, you really can't go wrong. I did get to try out the new Sigma 150-600mm Sports lens, and it is a bit sharper and has a much better build quality, and is dust & water resistant.
