why don't you two do a little more than just say 'are you holding....?' why are you interested, what do you know? what do you think, what's your play for example, i'll do a real post i'm doing a high risk position on CPIX, they are a drug maker, and the FDA decides tomorrow whether their drug can be used for a more wide range of uses - if it can, this stock looks good for some short term gains high risk, so its only about 2% of my portfolio, but it is a fun play to make a couple hundred bucks |
Been looking into PIE. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe...rticle1597592/ Read recent article in the National Post. Palmer built up his position from 6 cents to 60 cents or so. PIE has 170,000 acres of land in Southern Alberta/Montana. It's near the Bakken Shale play. In the article, Palmer said that the land owned by PIE is roughly 20 miles north of land owned by Newfield Exploration. Palmer ended off saying if PIE was taken over, it would be in the few dollars range. I'm trying to find a good price to get into PIE but the stock has shot up since that article and other announcements. Check it out. If anyone wants, i can scan the article. I couldn't find a digital one online. |
DLKM is on the move. |

I have a small position and for me it was just a spec play..like you with CPIX.. It has decent drill results but with a lot of cheap paper out there, I'm going to have to wait for it to pass before the SP can move up again Now I've learned my lesson and will not put money in stocks that I think will pop.. Now I use TA to swing trade large caps and buy junior producers with increasing production, low P/E ratios, little to no debt, low cash per oz |
What's this cheap paper you're talking about |
Cheap PP with .10 warrants |
okay, and what's PP? |
Private Placement |
Does anyone use RBC Direct? It's basic and simple, and it's fine.. but when I buy US stocks, it gives me the TSX ticker symbols and sometimes quotes me in CAD I just bought Telus (TU) and it's showed up as T.A and it used my CAD to buy it... Will it auto adjust the next business day? Does anyone have experience with this? |
It doesn't auto adjust. Basically you buy the US stock in CAD, and when you sell it, they give you CAD back. They don't convert CAD->USD then buy the stock. If you want USD back, call them right away and they will convert it into USD for you. |
^ I already have USD in my account... when I bought SVM (NYSE) everything was fine.. I'll call them on Monday if it doesn't correct itself by then.. |
SFF to raise about $15 mill at 0.50 (30mill units) and not to mention if it gets over subscribed |
Wow LULU been doing some upward dog yoga pose lol |
Anyone have experience with Questtrade? |

Are there ECN fees, are level 2 quotes free, how long do deposits take, is the trading platform free? thanks. |
^deposits took me around a day or two. lvl 2 is free and so is the trading platform. you might want to pay for the live quote streams though if you don't wan't to keep clicking the refresh button lol... |
Yea thats what I meant, Live stream lol.... BMO investor line isn't really geared toward day trading so I will be switching to Questtrade or iTrade.... so far quest trade is looking good, plus a free transfer of my account and 10 free trades, not bad. |

they then took a week off, did it with real money, and lost their bottle... and a bunch of money i wasn't surprised in teh slightest! i'm not saying it doesn't work, i just don't have the stomach for it |

For US transactions they sometimes add a "US transaction fee", but it's really minimal.. I haven't intra-daytraded and don't plan on ever doing it I wouldn't even swing trade a company with poor fundamentals..IMO that way I decrease my chance of losing money |

If anyone trades a lot and wants to save on fees, CIBC Investors Edge has a $395 a/c where you get 50 trades for 1 year. (about $8 a trade), and there's no minimum balance required. https://www.investorsedge.cibc.com/i...ion-rates.html I currently trade on RBC DI and the commission on penny stocks are killing me haha |

at $4.95 (assuming you're trading less than 496 stocks) in and out that's about $10 total cost to buy and sell a stock, honestly there's no point holding less than $1000 as all you can do is either buy 1 stock at 1% commission (in and out), or own a bunch of stocks and get raped on commission $1000 minimum SHOULD NOT be a concern for investors |
