OOOOH my goodness yes...filled at 37

what's your plan with SMB? are you investing or trading?

I try to think/act smarter now when I trade..I first ask if the stock is in a good industry or has a good future...if no, then I wouldn't touch it.
Look at NUE, it would have been an awesome swing trade right after the US Thanksgiving, but the steel industry is too competitive, so I decided to leave it alone

Then, what is probable upside? For SLW, if silver prices maintain, looks like it'll get back to at least $40. When it gets close to $40, I ask again if there's still more upside. If not, I just sell.

anyone else subscribed to stockhouse news?

for the past week, i've been observing every news that come in and when i check those stocks, they are usually up .03 to .08.

for example, on thursday, there was one about nv gold (nvx.v) received strong results on their drilling. the news is dated dec 16, 9am, but somehow i received at 6:14 am. that day it went up as high as .155 and closed with an increase of .125 at 0.35.

if i wasn't holding on cin and ppi, i would have gotten 10k+ shares and made atleast 2k+ that day.

the more important thing, here, i would say is, what are the average increases over a give period of time after these news releases

for example, there are websites that pump & dump, try to get ppl to come along... well, i'm going to look into it, but you'll often see a 20% rise in 1 hr, then start to fall, with a net loss of about 10% overall within a day or two after hte sell off.... well, what do i care.. if i get in at opening, then sell after 55 mins, take my 10-15% gain (with some of myspeculative funds), i'm fine....

but its great to know what teh average performance is over time of these type of fluctuations

there is money to be made doing stuff like this, but i'd still say keep a SIGNIFICANT portion of your portfolio is muhc lower risk investments (large cap, good long term investments, etc.) and be prepared to lose it all

I'm will hold SMB as long as management sticks/follows a plan. I like their prospects, esp with majors in the area. But if it has a decent size pop, more or less, I'll be looking to exit. With that said, it might be a while for this to move.

yea, some news doesn't affect the SP at all. i'm still in the process of observing which news actually bumps the SP on market open.

i notice that, news released on market open are usually good news. news released after market close usually causes the SP to drop the next day because of panic selling. news with drill results/high grade returns/established agreements etc. have significant affect.

start of a (flow through) financing/PP, acquiring property/options and the likes have little to no affect.

it's nice to have news emailed to you so you can act on it when market opens. not all news make it on the stockhouse though unfortunately.

Anyone heard of Douglas lake minerals? They've got around 4x the property that canaco has in Tanzania, all adjacent to the handeni region. This might be a good play for those that missed the boat with canaco once they start drill and exploration. Gonna buy some soon once it settles down after today's big move.

7seven has already mentioned this stock a few pages back, and yes it can turn out to be a very good play just like CAN.

I was out all day so I wasn't on top of the price action, news, etc...
now it's time to catch up and see if I want to do anything tmr..

Are any of you selling to trigger a tax loss at the end of the year?
I bought Russell Breweries (RB.V) a long time ago and didn't really do much with it..I'm wondering if I should just sell or wait for a pop...
Either it'll be taken over by another brewery..or Canaccord will pump it somehow since it was involved with RB's last PP...
