I agree. I mean, can't someone do the same thing by writing a simple script to copy-and-paste from Google translator to a chat window? Plus, as you pointed out, you have to give up your passwords - another source of security vulnerability.

They compare themselves to Facebook, but they really can't, because the main reason Facebook works is that everyone uses it. With this translator thing, I can just copy-and-paste from Google.

hi all, im interested in trying out the stock market and would like to learn a lot more about how the stock market works. i do not want to play stocks based on hot tips, but would like to learn how to analyze and read the market, and base my decisions on that. I understand it is not easy, but im willing to spend time learning how to do it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in getting started? Some websites, tutorials, etc. would be really helpful. Currently im reading up articles on investopedia but im sure there are other resources that can help as well. I dont think i will put my money into stocks till i feel confident about what im doing. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance. And yes, i'm the typical young adult male ( im 20 ) who wishes to have another source of income.

Drow: depending on your education background with finance, it's probably best if you start with more simple books. The Warren Buffet Way is a good book to start with for a novice IMO. The book gives you examples of investments Buffet did and this book actually got me enjoy not just making money but from investing my money. There's a Jim Cramer book that wasn't too bad IMO. It was one the his earlier books. (hahaha hope i don't get failed for mentioning Cramer on a stock market thread) lol

If you're not confident, there are these virtual stock market websites or programs ( I think facebook has one) where you have a bunch of money and you can use it to invest. This way you'll get practice but it won't burn you if you lose money.

thanks. my friends told me about the virtual programs where i can play around with the stocks to see how i do but i feel its just a gamble till i actually know what im doing. i work at a bank so i always get to listen to my colleagues when they talk about the current markets and stuff aha. i probably wont put down my money till at least a couple months of research.

Drow from someone who lost a shit load of money in my first year of trading, I can tell you the only way to learn is from experience and the virtual shit doesn't help because you have to learn how to disregard emotion + build discipline. Start trading with what you can afford to lose. Knowing the fundamentals of the industry you chose to invest in + reading financial statements + knowing how to do DD is also very important.

My perspective is from a traders point of view, if you just want to invest into a company and hold a long position (6months-year+) then just do your homework and find a company with good growth potential.

ive heard from people that you need to have the stomach to trade. of course im looking at the whole gig with a positive outlook but at the same time im scared if my first venture turns sour i will lose motivation to keep going.

read ken fisher's "the only three questions that count" - great book about how to beat the markets... but you need to be financially literate & financially intelligent to get through it

+1 for experience, I could never take virtual trading seriously, my friend just started about a month ago using virtual brokers, they gave him 100 free trades or smth for his first quarter so if you want you can try that out.

I wasn't necessarily saying these were must buys, as I got these stocks long before their run up, but I do expect a few good things coming up soon..
But of course do your dd first

so I can either so all info CUU and hold, or spread some out

CUU should be 3-4x come spring/summer (as a timeline)
