Yeah, well, after hearing market's are gonna sag because of the earth quake in japan i think i would want to buy in while their down & maybe raise up in the coming month's,5 grand i'll try throw down..

anyone know of any market share's for lumber?,shouldn't that be the cue to buy stocks for that since Japan need's to rebuild some of it's house's or No?....hmm?.

Edit: oh it's slowly going higher..?

CFP‎ Canfor Corporation (TSE) stock.

“With wood construction significantly more earthquake- resistant than concrete, we expect that the majority of the rebuilding to be done using wood as a construction material,” Richard Kelertas, a Montreal-based analyst, said today in a note to clients. “This should have positive impact on most of our North American timber, lumber and building materials stocks.”

International Forest Products surged 80 cents, or 15 percent, to C$6 in Toronto, the biggest gain since December 2008, while Canfor advanced 88 cents, or 7.2 percent to C$13.07.

Before you throw down your money, could you please let us know what your investment goals are first? Is this $5K money that you'll need to use fairly soon? Or is it something that you can leave in the markets for a while or perhaps even lose altogether?

I wouldnt WRITE any options unless you really knew what you were doing. All you get is the premium, which isnt that much money. and your risk is almost unlimited.

I bet most of you guys bought UUU for the $1 dividend so your shares are still in the money so to speak.

Um.. wrong. Being short naked calls gives you unlimited risk. As for the premium you collect, that's a function of the strike price, the expiration date and volatility in the markets. If for example, you found a low beta stock like walmart and just did nothing but write puts on it, with the minimal margin requirements on it, you could make a decent return.

Being short naked puts gives you a payoff equal to premium - max(strike price - price at expiration, 0). Your risk then is only strike price - premium. Covered calls will have the same payoff.

agreed da fonz...
I'm writing covered calls...
I get the premium, dividends and the price appreciation...

However, on the flip side if the price drastically drops, I can't touch my shares until I buy back the calls..

Futures are just getting killed down right nasty. I am surprised they haven't halt the market in Japan yet. The Feds are going to have to intervene or we have market meltdown tomorrow no doubt about it.

Shitty for me I bought CAT today, so I will be taking a good hit. Oh wells my trading motto is: A good trader knows when to take profit; A great trader knows when to take a loss.

This looks to me like the time to take a loss and wait for better opportunity down the road.
