I dont know yet. Still have to do some more digging.

I do know that there's no shares available to short though :(

DEER on the other hand:

I'm short 11 may 5 calls and 500 shares.

CAAS is likely going to get fucked by the SEC.
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/da...v215367_8k.htm

This is a Kevin Theiss company which you might know from such winners as CAGC (halted Mar 21 - no auditor in site) and its sister company SHZ (note how the share price is correlated with REE. Now ask yourself, is fluorite a REE? Read this: http://absaroka.com/uploads/SHZ_Letter_032311.pdf). Also involved, Gene Michael Bennett who:

- lied about his past history
- claimed he had a law degree (he doesnt)

So much win everywhere.

What's up the the rare earth companies these days? Are they still hot like in 2009? I bought RA because Sheldon Inwentash bought some and it's up 20% today, but I have absolutely no idea why.

Fucked if I know. SHZ didnt move the way I wanted so I got the fuck out.

PUDA on the other hand... down 17% as of right now. :D

What happens if you're short shares when they're halted indefinitely?

Eventually they'll get booted to the pinks and you can close out your position.

You get in? This sure makes up for stupid SHZ and CAAS :)

what does "shorting" a stock mean, and why would you buy when it's going to drop in price?

thanks

3klipze 04-08-2011 07:07 AM

@blkgsr

Not sure if it Questrade being faulty with their data feed but I keep seeing the bid sizes > ask sizes for CUU

DaFonz 04-08-2011 07:50 AM

@3klipze: That's because it's a giant fraud. Somebody gonna get delisted soon.

@blkgsr: You're borrowing shares to sell so that in the future you can buy them back at a lower price.

For PUDA for example.. you'd sell 100 shares at $8.70 which puts your position at -100 shares.

Later, if things go according to plan, you buy those shares for oh.. $1 and voila, your position is now 0 shares and you have a profit of 100 * (8.7 - 1) = $770.

3klipze 04-08-2011 09:03 AM

isn't shorting a bit risky?

"if you play with falling knife, your bound to get hurt"

highfive 04-08-2011 09:24 AM

^ True but same goes any other speculating. If you do you own DD and understand that the company is worth less than it is today. Short it.

ah yes ok i remember reading that now

do you need a special account to short stock? how do you even go about doing that?

just curious

shawnly 04-08-2011 10:01 AM

There's a margin requirement I believe, as the loses are in theory limitless, but most of the time your broker will call you to cover your position

highfive 04-08-2011 10:33 AM

Yeah a margin account. I believe you need some sort of money as collateral right? in case the SP rises. Process is you borrow somebody's stock, sell it, keep the money but you pay interest on the stock you borrowed.

I'm reading on SH, ppl are beginning to suggest CUU may have the potential to worth up to $24 a shr. lol

You need a day traders account which last I recall was $25k margin account.

You can get short exposure to stock one of two ways - by doing naked shorts (where your theoretical loss is limitless) or by buying puts where your loss is limited to what you paid for the contract.

it probably does, but i think get buy in takes 75% of that....so cuu's protion would be $6 sort of thing

hell i hope i'm wrong, hello paid off house and new car

blkgsr 04-08-2011 10:58 AM

**teck buy in

highfive 04-08-2011 11:42 AM

This is what I got from SH and how they got the $20 target.

8.1 billion pounds of copper @ $4 = $32.4 billion.

Keep in mind that this is the least of the value since it costs us nothing to mine the copper. Actually it's -.32 per pound. This is based on the 07 numbers when gold was $600 ish and silver was in the $10s.

$32.4 billion x 23.75% (CUU) = $7.695 billion.

Divide that by 372 million shares, you get $20.69

But I would take in some consideration of interest, the mining life of that value. It will take us 20 years to mine all that out. Plus there may be more value since not all of the creek was explored and drilled.

Fuck, i'll take half of the 20 bucks haha.

blkgsr 04-08-2011 12:05 PM

ya that's all true, but remember teck can "take" 75% of that value (by spending money on the mine etc)

that would leave CUU with 25%, so about $5

if teck doesn't back in the full 75%, so only 60% (can't remember what it was exactly) then we're looking at $10

if they only do 40% (dream for us) then hello WAY over $10

shawnly 04-08-2011 12:31 PM

Did anybody else scoop up cheap shares during that "bear raid" ? Grabbed some more at 2.43 myself

3klipze 04-08-2011 12:37 PM

=[. i missed it.. wasn't near a computer.. I had to go hand in stupid assignment!!

could've caught that dip to add more shares

about the value of the company, I hope it would hit 10, but ideally, 6 is were i think its going to be at

^ gratz on hitting one of the lows, and jumping in

xlilxjohnny 04-08-2011 02:19 PM

you guys think its too late to grab some CUU ???
