@Strykn did you have a lot of problems when you used CIBC?

Does CIBC have a good intraday charts . I disliked qtrade because they had minimal options like stochastics and you can't really customize anything . Is CIBC charts ok ? What about scotiabank itrade? Looking for 20 bucks or less commission with good charting systems. Don't think I can make the minimal trade or have 100k in my account . Posted via RS Mobile |

@Strykn did you have a lot of problems when you used CIBC? | dude the only good thing about my CIBC account is the 6.95 trades but honestly, the quotes are sometimes over 2 hours delayed on the portfolio holdings view and the set up is utter garbage compared to BMO. there's not much you can do and i find TD has the best charts.... IMO
- I'm thinking about bringing one of my accounts on iTrade to test it out just because of their Afterhours trading and i'd be able to use their flight desk.... which seems very appealing to me

Looked at itrade, 19.99 for first 1000 shares, then .02 after. I play pennies, wow, what a killer commission. Gonna go back to qtrade and use eSignal as platform. Anyone have any experience with esignal?

How much commission is q trade ? I play from small cap to midcap , and Td commission is pretty killer
Edit : for those with qtrade , how are your experiences with it ? And their charts ?

Also another person at Steifel seems to be grabbing up shares as well
I haven't decided what price to put it in yet... maybe a limit order of 2.3?

you're not going to learn about the economy, business, etc from a weekend seminar, and these are the things you really need to understand to invest in RE or companies.
my best bet is to take courses at university level, start reading, reading, and reading - the economist, books written by the uber successful investors, books by economists - start to understand how the world works, there's no easy way to 'learn' to win this game, its all about making educated decisions

^ Thanks. I've read a few book from cover to cover, but I don't find them to be very informational. Does anyone of you have any good suggestion on certain books or books by certain successful investors that I may or should be interested in reading?
Thanks a lot.

Depends on what you are looking for, for stocks, I recommend Phil Town. It's rather hard to replicate what he does although his books focus on just that. But the concept behind, to find the true value of a company's stock rather than betting, is fundamental IMO for any kind of investment. If you can't see/analyze the true value of something, then don't invest.

for example: http://www.forbes.com/2008/01/28/gra...apbox_inl.html
i don't see ken fisher on that list - he is one of the most successful money managers / authors around - he writes well and has a column
you won't get anything from those free seminars - intelligence & education are really the only ways to win in the investing game
these seminars are not there to make you a better investor, they are there to sell you a product/service
there is also no 'get rich quick' scheme to investing, patience, intelligence, timing, risk analysis, amongst a thousand other factors will make you money
