do most of you guys use questrade? how long do deposits normally take?

I have heard half half for questrade, some like it, some don't . I heard transferring funds took up to 3 business weeks which made me say no no even if their commissions were dirt cheap.

Anyone have a low commission platform to recommend for the lower end stocks for NYSE (not necessarily penny stocks but 5$/share or lower)

A friend of mine used Qtrade and he didn't like it/wouldn't recommend it

If you're planning to put money in a stock for more than a year. Just use your TD account no point going through all that hassle to save 10 bucks.

If you mean platform as in trading platform with level 2 and such, it won't be worth your while because it costs $80 bucks a month minimum unless you're planning to get into swing trading. Long-term investment, just buy and come back in X years.

Platform wise I heard TD is good ... going to be trying esignal myself.

Groupon $GRPN files $750M IPO ; woooo party like it's the 1990s

xpl0sive 06-02-2011 11:23 AM

hmm thinking about dumping 5k into it and sell at days end

xpl0sive 06-02-2011 05:21 PM

how long till it goes public?

4444 06-02-2011 06:26 PM

would not touch groupon with a 10 foot pole - they should have sold up to google for $6bil - google, amazon, etc. these companies will eat it for breakfast, there are no barriers to entry here, and the name means nothing, its the deals that matter and what ppl go for, and goog/amazon have more cash to throw at this than groupon does

great idea, but i REALLY think they should have sold up for $6 VERY LARGE

Not a bad idea ala Linkedin

HonestTea 06-02-2011 08:21 PM

I would've took the 6bil offer from Google as well.

I'm sorry, but yer fucking stupid if you try to go long that piece of garbage. Did you not read that report? It's pretty damning.

xpl0sive 06-03-2011 10:50 AM

did you read the response from TRE?

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-relea...123098823.html

"As indicated in the report, Muddy Waters has a short position in the Company's shares and therefore stands to realize significant gains from a share price decline that it precipitated. Muddy Waters expressly admits that it makes no representation as to the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any information contained in its report. "

I tell you what, you go long TRE and let me know how it goes.

Since you're at it, why don't you take a look at other companies that Muddy Waters has researched.

CCME
RINO
ONP
DGW

Just because they're short doesn't mean they aren't right.

xpl0sive 06-03-2011 11:09 AM

i guess we'll see what happens on June 14 when they file their report....

I was able to scalp it twice today, got in at 5.06 in the morning and 5 minutes later at 5.25 only to see it go up to 6.06 an hour later; got in again at 4.99 near the close and exited at 5.25 again.

These fraud plays are very good on the way down, especially puts. But going long can be very deadly, you can catch a machete; I'm sure a lot of people thought they would catch a bottom bounce play yesterday at the close, getting in at 7, only to be shitting in their pants this morning at the open.

gdoh 06-06-2011 08:11 AM

is the market closed today??? i dont see anything trading =|
