In order of preference Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan or Bank of America for me.

Also debating whether I should go with US banks or one the Canadian banks/Insurance companies which seem to be less volatile (relative to the US bank) and leave it for a slightly longer investment and sit for some slightly higher dividend yields since I won't really be paying much attention to the market once school starts

Can someone shed some light into moving average market timing strategy? I'm new to this...from what I understand if a stock exceeds it's moving average (e.g. 50 or 200 days MA), it is a good time to buy as the stock is considered "bullish". If it is below the MA, it is considered "bearish" and should be sold.

But from my thinking, if the stock price is below the MA, doesn't it indicate a bottom may be near, which makes it a good time to buy as the stock is poised for a rebound?

However, if the 50-day MA crosses (up) the 200-day MA, then that would potentially make a good entry point as it would indicate the stock is on upswing, correct? Or if the 50-day MA is below the 200-day MA, then it would indicate a rebound may be in order?

First stock purchase made. Starting small.

Going long on BNS.TO, SLF.TO, and BIP (Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP) I actually work for a subsidiary of Brookfield.

Seems like everytime nvt takes a big hit, it always goes back to the 0.23 mark ... Might play around with that next time

But low volume though. Unless you're buying and selling very small amount of share.. it might be hard for you to unload your shares.

Take a look at AYX. Just had to write a research report on this stupid company. Production coming online in 2015. I like the property and expect the updated 43-101 (expected Q1 2012) to significantly expand resources based on drilling to date.

Damn I am a noob. Didn't know you can't place buy orders of odd sizes in after hours trading on the TSE. 100 is standard.

It would suck not having Jobs announcing new apple products now. He is one of the best salesman of all time IMO.

BNS makes up about 25% of my portfolio (I bought most of it when the shares were below $30 a few years ago during the recession). I've added some more stock a couple days ago at 49.85.
